keep the 5m and put the turbofold from a 7m on it. plenty of power there. how did you find one for 200. if i could buy another mkii i would. in a hearbeat

Yeah as if that is going to be the simplest option...
First goto www.supramania.com I am not baggin on this forum but I am the only Running Supra owner and you need lots of info that I dont have.
Second start searching threads
Then ditch the 5m and either swap a 7mgte after you swap a metal hg and install some Arp studs.
OR you could go 1j,1.5j,or 2j. Hell you could even go 1uzfe. The 5m/7m is a waste of time and money for all that it takes to do it right you can swap a 7mge into it. The last supra with the 5m is 86 that is 22 years ago. you are going to have to completely rebuild it to get anything out of it and then it still is a 22 year old motor with 22 year old tech .
PICK TWO Fast,Cheap ,or Reliable
you picked the wrong car, pick another one.

Off some old guy, the car had a blown head gasket, but i fixed it, and im planning on selling it when im done to get a 91 supra with a turbo. This is just my senior project. And a 5m is not that bad, but i agree when you say yank it and pu a 1jz, 2jz, 5jz or a 1uz. But that's money i dont have. If i were to get a 1uz i'd put it in a 91 or higher cause of weight, but im almost done, im waiting for a dowel pin, thats is all i need to get it running again, i had dropped it and i need to find another, i could've gotten it started two weeks ago, next i'll work on the exterior of the car, any color suggestions? amd any suggestions what should i do to the interior?

oh god, ma60's are sooo ugly. i like the 5m a whole hell of a lot more than 7m's. what you should do is go 6mgte.

03-02-2009, 09:43 PM
why should i go to a 6m?
TatMatt

uggh!! I give up
Because it is the half assed thing to do. Why is hell would anyone want to take a bottom end from at the latest 1986 and turbo it??
So lets make a shopping list for this oh so advised swap.
Complete 7mgte head
Upper and lower intake manifolds
Exhaust manifold
Coil pack
Cam positions sensor
Throttle body
Idel Speed Control Valve
Throttle linkage
Fuel rail
Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel pressure dampener
Injectors
Ingnitor
Intercooler
Ic pipes
7mGTE afm
ecu
wiring harness ( making sure they are either grey plug or yellow plug)
I know I am forgetting alot but you get the hint.
OR you could but a low mile 7mgte and replace the head bolts with ARP and torque them to 85 ft lbs with a MHG

Jarco is good as well as RHD japan Osaka is shit don't go there. You might want to check out celica supra .com as well

damn, how bout the mk3's? and will my tranny handle the 7mgte?
TatMatt
03-03-2009, 11:14 PM
what about MKIII's I have one
Yeah the w58 will handle the GTE Thats what I have at the moment just need to up grade the clutch. The tranny can handle 400hp before it get sketchy. Your best bet is to get your 83 running good and dependable. Then get a nice MKIII with a jz swap.

TatMatt

If it is out already then no don't put it back unless it is really hot where your are. I don't have any I just put power steering back in . No Cruise control either. I regretted the power steering delete and I wouldn't mind AC but I am just an old man ...I usually just drive the daily on hot days

All this talk about doing a 5M or 7M...
YOu really would have to have a boner to toss the money into a M motor.
My opinion, just that, ditch the M and do a 1JZ or 2JZ. Cheaper than rebuilding a M to do the same power that a JZ does stock.
THings to keep in mind for a MKII JZ project...fabrication is involved, need good welding skills or someone you really trust who can. Motor mounts need made, tranny mount/crossmember needs made. You will need a custom driveshaft in most cases. And depending on how far back you sit the motor or not you'll have to fab the radiator mounting.
I have a friend currently putting a 2JZGTE in his 86 MKII , looks killer, looks like the way Toyota should have done it.
ANyhow, just my two cents...
