Picked this up a while ago for $575, thinking about throwing plates and tags on it and daily driving it for a while while my motor is being pulled. It's a little dirty, but should clean up ok:wavey:

Well, if it's only for a daily driver, you'll be fine.

nice, my mom had one just like that. You ever do any repairs on the 4x4 before?

What's wrong with the 4x4? Like what are the symtoms? I haven't owned or offroaded a Ford truck in years, but I still have my connections....

Well the electronic 4x4 systems are known to have some problems. It could be the hubs, 4x4 motor is what was wrong with mine, or could be a wiring problem

i think it's the 4x4 shift motor. I push the 4x4 button, but no light comes on. The shift module is fine i believe.

Damn, time to get out a wiring diagram and a DVM. I hate diagnosing electrical. It's easy, just tedious. I'm sure if I was paid for it, I would enjoy it a little more though.

when mine went out the light didnt work either, but when i would push the button the car would act like it was trying to engage by the engine slowing down and noise coming from the t-case

Your gonna have to test....throwing parts at that 4wd system could cost you hundreds of dollars.

All symptoms as of now point to the shift motor. I think i can pick one up at junk yard for under $50. I'll keep my eyes on craigslist too
