Just spent way too long taking out my tail lights, replacing a bulb, and cuttin em open to take out the amber on the bottom half of my headlights. But I think they look wayyyy better now :)

hopefully i won't get any shit from the ol' police about em but i doubt it. Unfortunately no pics tonight because its too dark to take with my phone but tomorrow I'll post some up to see what you guys think.

EDIT: Pictures on second page...

If you get harassed by the po too much they do make amber bulbs that will suffice. But Spokompton po are pretty lenient. I haven't run with amber corners or a front plate for two years and haven't even been noticed.

How'd you open your heads? Oven, hairdryer, or just razor blade 'em open?

Definitely post some pics. :D

if you don't want to get harassed, then run amber bulbs in the clear. That is how I have it setup in my DA, both front and rear

The lamp showing to the rear shall be mounted on the same level and as widely spaced laterally as practicable, and, when signaling, shall emit a red or amber light, or any shade of color between red and amber. Turn signal lamps shall be visible from a distance of not less than five hundred feet to the front and rear in normal sunlight. Unfortunately, in Idaho it's all years, so you could have white turn signals up front.

Anyways, there's nothing in the RCW that states the lens has to be amber or red.

are you talking about the xenon lights?

Those got me pulled over by the State Patrol because they were a blue tint and not white or amber.

I guess this is why they say "off-road use only"

you should just use a yellow led bulb...

Tmo_BB6
03-13-2009, 06:17 PM
Why's that?

silver_echo
03-13-2009, 06:24 PM
i personally think that it looks better if you have the choice, and it is a lot easier for some of the stupid drivers to figure out that you are either turning or changing lanes

Tmo_BB6
03-13-2009, 06:31 PM
Yeah but if you look on the first page, the law says your turn signals need to be either red or amber....

silver_echo
03-13-2009, 06:33 PM
not to be a complete smartass, but amber is yellow...

Tmo_BB6
03-13-2009, 06:35 PM
yeah i guess so hahahah, i always considered amber as more yellowish red and yellow different but i guess they are one in the same lol

Maybe I get away with it because I have stock clear turn signal bulbs and Silver Star head bulbs. Makes the turn signals look more yellow I guess, lol.

Good looking tails though. Red/clear always a good choice.

Well i just ordered 2 red led's for turn signals and 2 white leds for reverse lights while i was at it, and a resistor kit for em so they dont blink incredibly fast.

silver_echo
