After trying multiple scratch removers and cleaners none of which worked very well what so ever, i stumbled across http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr270/lockandload308/ccp-pol-100_w.jpg

so I figured I'd try it, for 10 bucks why not....

That looks like it came out good. You can also do this with 600,800, 2000 grit sand paper. In that order. I do it to my headlights usually after winter, get all the rock chips out and shine them up with a clear plastic cleaner and then clear plastic polish. Use a nice 100% cotton terry cloth.

Yeah i heard you could sand em too but never knew exactly what grit or what to do exactly, good to know... maybe I'll sand em more to make em back to looking perfect instead of just "better". Thanks!

i wouldnt recommend doing this to often on plastic headlights. we did it in our shop until we found out eventually it mades it worse. so we look to see if it looks like there is a film on top of them if so u mise well replace ur lights. ill post pictures of my stock ones tomorrow so it give ppl a better idea what to look for

Here's the detailing secret method to take care of yellowing/foggy headlights

Soak 2 pieces of sandpaper in water for 15-20 minutes. 1000 and 3000 grit will work great. You CAN use 2000 in between if you like.

Get a spray bottle and fill it full of water with a little bit of car soap if you want.
Make sure the area is really wet and just lightly start wetsanding away with the 1000. After you've covered the whole area, wipe it dry and inspect your work. It SHOULD still be really hazy. Grab either the 2000 or the 3000 and do the exact same thing. MAKE SURE YOU'RE GETTING THE SURFACE NICE AND WET WITH THE SPRAY BOTTLE AS YOU SAND.

Dry the surface and let it air dry while you wetsand the other one. Grab a nice Menzerna finishing polish and polish it down until the compound breaks down. (If you don't have a porter cable 7424/Flex XC 3401 this can take a very long time.

Wipe the residue off and inspect! If there's still a bit of hazing just do a second pass with the polisher and you should be having headlights that look brand new!
