I talked to Brian last night, and we both agreed that the 12 COTM winners should face off for COTY award. Everybody could pitch in a buck to get a plaque made.

I knwo we had the certificate discussion already, but when I was offroad racing, you'd be surprised at how many people would rather have a $6 trophy over a $50 cash payout. Me being one of them.

Yeah. I'd rather have something to show for it, instead of money.

I was thinking about paying Elite to make a COTM sticker for my car. Show people what kind of cars are on this site

I have an idea, if you want to be a judge for car of the year, you can pay NWT (to help for hosting fees and such) and be a sponsored judge, and that will ween out a lot of people from the voting process.

Or, we can come up with an application form to be a COTY and the administrators will decide on who the judges are.

Note: Cars that haven't won yet are able to be in the running for car of the year, they just have to win a month. ;)

I'm down for either way..... That could work with chipping in for the Plaque. Pay to vote.

I'm about as unbiased as you can get.

For car of the year I think a judging type needs to be adopted. There should be guidelines written up. We have all year to figure it out.

sounds like a great idea. Any way to make some money to keep the site up, I'm down with.

i agree with the idea, i also agree on the guidelines. i think the judges should have to give a legit reason why they voted for the car instead of o they are my friends, or i like subarus or honda's, because that seems to be the problem ppl are having with the rotm voting. it seems everyone is upset because ppl voted for what they liked and know

Not many people, except Brian, noticed that even though I like and know Hondas more, I voted for the Subie....

Suggest some guidelines then.... this is a forum, it is open for discussion.

how about judging based on a couple rules...

i.e. look, performance, reliability, improvement, following its own theme(i.e. if the purpose is drag, stay with drag)

Could you go in more depth in each of these suggested areas?

Like a checklist in a range of areas. 1 to 10.

Paint 1-10 [_____]

Body work 1-10 [_____]

Engine 1-10 [_____]

Performance 1-10 [_____]

Wheels and tires 1-10 [_____]

Interior including stereo, seats, headliner, etc 1-10 [_____]

Lighting including smoked lights, LEDs, aftermarket headlights, etc. 1-10 [_____]

Like that? On a card?

Brian

also, maybe.....

Theme, etc. 1-10 [_]

So if your theme is JDM, how well is it put together.

We should require the COTY nominees to meet at a secret location for a weekend of an intense vote-down. :)

thanks jetblack... pretty much exactly what i was thinking, then we add up all the scores from the different sections, and then the highest total score would win, with a tie decided with a final run off(maybe like another round with only those two)

This thread is about ideas about doing the judging for COTY. Not a bitch thread. Take it to the fight thread.

If you don't have any productive ideas, don't post because they will just get deleted

maybe have a section where things like chipped paint, cracked glass, bad tint job, etc. can be marked with the appropriate deductions for such things(maybe like 1-5 points a piece)

but for final judging, you guys are right, and it should be required that ALL vehicles be at the same spot at the same time, with the judges... that would make it easier for impartial judging...

jon

why not judge it just like at a car show. we could actually turn the coty into a meet and have some outside sources (tuner shop owners) be the judges. then they can have a score card. that way no one on here is really having too much say. it would be an outside impartial judging panel
