So I need a paint job bad. So I was thinking of rattle canning my car flat black. However I know things like the $50 paint job makes it a bitch to do a real paint job. So what can I do the will make it just flat black but not ruin it for around or under $100. Just has to hold me over untill I have money to do a real job.

If you buy some spray-can primer, and some higher quality spray paint, then you could do an alright job. I mean, alright for under $100. You'd just have to make sure you got everything evenly, but it would look pretty good as a matt-black look.
As far as ruining it... I don't know if it'd matter, they should be able to sand it off fine..

Well over $100 would be fine just not much more then $150.

H'm, I guess I actually didn't know. In that case, what if you just black primered it? It'll look black, and also the primer shouldn't be too bad to sand down when it eventually gets painted. 'Cause they could just primer over it?
Would that work?

For sure. I would say sand down everything, Bondo the crap out of all your tares and stuff, sand that down, then primer it.

use sealer first over any bondo and other areas that were fixed then primer it helps keep the rust out and primer adheres better

do not just pile bondo on..plz...if u want to do it right get all ur dents out as close as u can. bondo is not recommended for anything deaper then1/8th of an inch. any deeper and eventually it will just start falling out

i personally hate bondo...i get my dent out as much as i can by metal finishing it and then use a little bit of glaze to smooth it out

Hey, another option you can use for paint is acrylic enamel and add some flatting agent on it to make it flat. I did both mine and by friends accord for under 200 dlrs. its better than primer if you don't plan to paint it soon. heres a pic of my friends accord.

Keep saving until you can afford a compressor. It's the beginning of a great set of tools. The basis of a lot of great things.
Rattling off lugnuts is cool. Spraying a car a new color is cool.
