Received a notice from our host, the site will be down for maintenance they are upgrading servers to 8GB of ram. Will happen between the said date at 1am EST. You all will more then likely not notice it.

Well that's cool man, so what exactly does the 8 GB's mean? More pics we can upload to our profiles? Schools us computer illiterates like myself.

8GB of ram in a server has to deal with how much random access memory the processor can have to access more programs and move files faster.

Ok, now in english. Cause what I think your sayin is we can have more programs on the forum and when we post it will post up quicker? Or send more emails to replied threads? I know I'm a total noob, but you should know that one by now erik ;)

BTW erik, correct me if i am wrong, it has been a while since i have dealt with computers


basically when more of us are online, it will still move like there was only 1 of us... also when you post, it should refresh a little faster(your post will show up a little faster)

The server accesses different programs on the system, so sending the post to the hard drive NWTuner resides on on the server will be faster. It will be a minimal change. However, if they upgraded their speed of connection to the internet we would see an increase in positive experience as far as web page loads, etc.
