Autosports Northwest Autocross opening season novice event was held today at the Deer Park, Washington Airport, which is north of Spokane about 20 miles. NWBMWClub.com was in attendance with a large group of drivers, as well as a Mini club and a few other select makes of cars. There was a good turnout considering the day started off brisk and gloomy for the first round of autocross. Slight showers and a wet track tested the drivers ability this morning. As the drivers learned the first course they started pushing their limits which led to some intense spin outs, especially from the rear wheel drive BMW's.

After the lunch break many of us showed Zip's the most people it has probably seen in years. The weather turned for the better and the showers subsided. The organizers changed the course once more before things would come to a close. The BMW drivers gave a pretty good show. You can find some pictures below, and even more on the forums. You can find out when more autocross events are going on by visiting ASNW.

Some people on here are interested in Auto-x and want to get into it, do you guys allow other makes to come out? Is it a group buy thing?

Thanks for coming out and shooting. Good to see additional photographers out so I don't have to stand in grid with a telephoto and then rush back to my car when it's my turn to drive.

Any shots of my car? (Sig)

Yeah I have some of your car. Not processed yet though ;) I have an exam today and probably won't get to it till tomorrow. Keep an eye on my DeviantArt creationsbe.deviantart.com

Sounds good. Sometimes it takes me a month or more to process mine so don't worry about it. I only have two shots uploaded out of about 700 or 800 that I took...I should be able to get down to <500 for the weekend.

It was fun to watch, a little cold, but fun. I wish I could do these events with my car, but its auto, so it would run a pathetic time.

Lies, lots of people race automatics. There's a guy that is very competitive at SSSCC that races an automatic Concorde.

And an Oregon Volvo:

Look under "not for points"
It's actually a 244, but listed in their computer as a 242.

AFAIK he has an Automatic...it's a non-turbo Volvo that came within 3 seconds of the top RAW time and beat a lot of other cars.
