Hey, I'm new around here... like I needed to tell you.

I've got a '93 del Sol Si, bone stock as far as performance goes. The previous owner put the rims and spoiler on, I did the sound system.

Well here's some pictures. Don't mind the MBS (Macco Bumper Syndrome... hasn't caught on yet), there's even over spray on the bottom of my head lights! Oh well, I bought it that way.

Is it me or do the tires look a little big?

You can really see how bad the bumper is here.

Just a little 8" solo-baric, but it does it's job.

You need some lower profile tires and a 1-2" drop.

Ditch the wing, build the suspension and swap it and you'll have a pretty sweet Sol!

Welcome and nice Sol. Never really got the huge dislike for the Del-sol. I think they look cool.

BTW, not sure if this will work for you but you should try a Meguiar’s claybar kit on your paint. I had the same thing going on with my macco painted car and now look at it.

Bmer89
04-26-2009, 11:12 PM
That is exactly what I use. Problem is, there's no paint on the front bumper to clay bar!

04-26-2009, 11:23 PM
Ha, didn't really notice that. thought it was really bad overspray that shows in the sun. That sucks.

Yeah, those tires do have a slight whiff of 4x4 to them. And in that one pic, it looks like paint is shedding off the bumpers. Someone tried to paint the plastic, wihtout priming? Maybe they tried to powdercoat them? Now that'd be funny.

I actually like the wing on the back. The car is roughly Supra shaped so it doens't look out of place, in the pics.

Bmer89

Yeah the tires need to go when the money comes. The previous owner gave me a pretty vague story on what happened to the bumper, he wasn't so convincing.

And thanks, I like the wing too. It gives it more character, different than most Sols out there.

Shit, I'm dropping the ball for my fellow Solers!

Great Sol. Seen it in person, and yeah, it needs some TLC, but nothing too major. Paint is the big issue. If you can get that pinned down, Brad you'll be halfway there. Shoes and socks should just about wrap it up.

Then you just need to bring it out to autox. 8-)

Yeah I can't wait for fresh paint. Then suspension/tires, tie rods and strut bars. And maybe a few trinkets under the hood, after all it's FWD.... All I really want out of this car is a fantastic handling, stylish and economical daily driver. Then save the big guns for something better.

And I would totally AutoX it! But not until it's ready. Man that's gonna be fun.

But for now, I have priorities and obligations that's sucking up any funds to modify my Sol. I have to pay for college, and if I can save enough for 2-3 quarters, I want to get a winter beater. Where's a rich, dead Grandfather when you need one? (sorry... that was mean)

EDIT: that pink Sol looks pretty nice... except for the pink lol

You need like a 5" drop and some 17's with some 35 series.

Is the switch to lower the back window in the armrest? I can't remember!

Yes.
and some 17's
Not on my car :yikes!:
with some 35 series.
Don't know what that means :lawl:

Is the switch to lower the back window in the armrest? I can't remember!
It's on the door panel with the others. The switch on the center console armrest is aftermarket and I assume it went to the gay LED windshield washer sprayer things the previous owner put on. I cut those wires out and wired it up to the little light in the ash tray.

Small update for you fellas. I bought some mint/new, never used red del Sol zig zag floor mats. For those of us who know about del Sols (really only two of you :lawl:), these are super rare to find and even more rare to find in this condition. So I is happies.

And these were just put in for pictures. They will not be used, only to be brought out from hiding for special events.

And then someone smashed a hole in my headlight. So I need another one :frown5:

And that would be sweet dude. When's the next time you're in town? Or maybe we could meet somewhere in the middle? I'll try and figure out my schedule, which is as reliable as... as... some thing unreliable!

Not to mention there's ice cream waiting :ihih:

i might be heading to the 509 Sunday or something. i wanna go to pull and save and pick up new fenders for my truck or maybe go find a junkyard with a del sol and grab a few things

Bmer89
07-15-2009, 11:28 PM
The only junk yard with del Sols in Spokane that I've found is Whitey's on Francis, and they are stripped of anything you might want. Mitch might know where some others are though.

EDIT: Hey I no longer need the headlights, but you still need your box of cones! Where you gonna be at Sunday?

gotrice93

Pull n Save or Spaldings has no del Sols. In fact, Spaldings told me to try Whitey's.

Update.....

Finally got rid of those massive tires yesterday. Now back to the OEM size. It looks much better, and there's no more rubbing! I can already tell it's stiffer in the corners because I have much less sidewall.

Anyways, check out the difference.

Side by side, old vs new:
