This is my baby. Even though i drive it to hard...lol......I have big plans for this car but as of now it has these mods, an engine from a 1995 240SX (KA24DE), a header, a full 3 inch exhaust, and a huge canister muffler ,that will soon be replaced with a Megan M-DT oval dual tip muffler. My plans for the future are to first build up the engine then turbo it with a T3/T4 turbo. I will have pics of the engine ASAP.

4 x 4 status! Drop it and get an Yashio or HKS not that Megan stuff.

04-28-2009, 10:54 PM
well i used 2 live on a 3 mile dirt road so the "4X4 status" was kinda nice bcuz it helped miss big rocks and get above the snow in the winter.....but yeah i know it needs 2 b lowered now but i dont have any money 2 spend on good springs.....i have found some coilover springs for $75 but they look like ebay springs.....and as far as the muffler goes my budget is up to $150.....HKS doesnt make an oval muffler that i know of and i have never herd of Yashio....the reason i like the Megan muffler is bcuz its $135 and looks pretty nice

...oh gosh. First of all, its cool if your into that kind of cheap buy stuff and i'm not trying to be a dick but hear me out.

When you buy a product from Megan of other no-name eBay brands, your supporting a company who does little when it comes to Research & Development. Your supporting a company that probably doesn't even run there own product on there car's at home. When you up your "budget" so that all those no-name eBay brands are way under your budget and you start your budget right where the more core companies cheapest product is, you end up with something that will last much longer and over-alll will give you much better performance and satisfactory.

Company's like Tein, Apex International, Tanabe, Koni, Eibach etc., put every single one of there products through extensive R&D so that they know that no bad part will be put out there. They put all their money into making sure every core tuner and Garage is getting the absolute best product for their car.

Please do the core companies a favor and support there dedication to the sport and tuning legacy that hopefully will continue to grow if young and aspiring kids like yourself and others support the old guys who are still trying to do good by giving us thee BEST product possible.

I know you may not have a job, or you do have a job but have lots of bills but why would you want to get a cheap product? Why spend your money getting something that won't be satisfactory in the long run and you'll probably end up switching it out like everyone else? You could even just start with a perfect spring and work your way up. Honestly, a Tein spring will beat a Megan coil anytime.

All of the fore-mentioned brands offer a cheap coilover that will far surpass anything Megan can offer. And those eBay no-name coil's are just sleeve coil's that are hands down...crap! Nothing to it. Please do good man. Show some respect to the sport.

Tein Springs & KYB GR2 Shock Package $519.99 (perfect combination)
TOKICO HP Series 1.0-Inch Drop Suspension Kit $510.71
(spring only) Tanabe Dress-Up Form SUSTEC DF210 $189

yeah.....i went and looked at the springs and they were ebay springs so i didnt buy them, i would never buy any cheap @ss ebay springs + the money i would have spent on them is now going toward a new distributor cap, rotor, plug wires and spark plugs.....but the reason my budget is so low is bcuz im in college and still havent found a job so i have no income.....i did jus sell a car but most of the money i got i had 2 give to my mom so she could pay bills....i would like some Tein springs but i jus cant afford them right now.....i cant really afford anything right now....i will jus have 2 wait until i can find a job b4 i start buyin parts and take all the criticism about my cars stance and "body roll" as it comes....not saying u ment 2 make fun of my car but other people in the last couple of days have been

Charles Manson
04-30-2009, 04:10 PM
Haha, I always will say something to someone about there car. But its whatever man. If you have to wait a month or longer to buy $300 (or less) springs that are way more worth it then some shotty bad coil's, do it! Take the time and save for the nice ones. Like I said, they will be way more worth it to you.

I have a blown out knee, can't drive, can't walk without crutches and on un-employment. But I save every dollar from it so I can buy the parts I need. I'm in the same position as you, I could either keep my stock KA radiator and make some ghetto fit radiatior hose so it works with my SR but why? Its janky and not worth it. So right now i'm savin $400 for a Koyo Aluminum Radiatior that offers better cooling and flow as well as Samco hoses so it works together. And thats JUST! on the radiatior.

Its all worth the wait and enjoyment in the end.

drsb08_89240
04-30-2009, 09:25 PM
dang....sorry 2 hear about the knee i hope u get better soon....but i get what your sayin....its always better 2 buy the better more expensive parts bcuz they will b better and more cost effective in the long run.....and as far as income goes i cant even file 4 unemployment....my income comes from selling stuff like my 2 KA24E engines that i have 4sale, a few 240SX parts, and my old beat up Chevy K5 Blazer....but its not workin out 2 well....lol...i had a guy fully set on buying 1 of my engine's block , he only wanted the block so i had 2 tare down the engine, but right when i was about 2 send it he flaked and i havent heard from him since...but oh well im sure sum1 else will buy it

i totally agree with charlie. buying cheap stuff from ebay is like pirating movies. whenever i buy parts i buy them from modern performance cause they are a mopar 4 banger only company and a lot of the r&d theyve done has had a huge impact on the neon world. like when i needed a coil pack the msd was 75 on ebay and like 78 at mp. i bought it from them. support who you can and make sure its the good guys. and when it comes to not havin money, i know how that goes. thats why ive shaved hundreds of pounds off my car and have done a huge amount of tinkering. there are plenty of improvements you can make to your car without needing money. so when you get the tinker bug and have no money, theres enough to do

oh and who cares if people give you shit and make fun of you, i drive a neon. lol theyre always haters

05-02-2009, 12:52 PM
yeah....no cheap parts 4 me.....but is Megan Racing really a cheap company???.....they do have a pretty good sized following.....i mean they may not have the best parts out there but as far as entry level parts they arnt bad

Charles Manson
05-03-2009, 11:28 PM
Yes, Megan Racing is your most basic parts company. But its like buying pirated to brand new! Your not getting the full-absolute 100% best product you can get. Its not worth lowering your standards to something so cheap and inexpensive just so you can get it right then and there.

If you have a chance to buy the Megan coil, or wait a month and have the money to purchase a cheap Tein coil. WAIT! It would just be dumb to not wait. The turn around isn't such a big thing but when comparing apple's to orange's, its huge.

And how many Megan Racing full backed driver's do you see?

drsb08_89240
05-04-2009, 08:54 AM
yeah.....i know...but what im getting at is that i need a new oval dual tip muffler NOW and cant wait till i get pulled over again and fined for my huge canister muffler and Megan has a good looking cheap muffler that i would like to get.....i dont wana start another thread about "what muffler should i get" but i do need 1 and Megan seems like a good choice right now

Domesticated
05-04-2009, 10:20 AM
you can get a good moroso spiral flow for like 40 bucks brand new, they sound really good too.

Charles Manson
05-04-2009, 01:00 PM
Well then you have a couple of choices (and please take our advice cause it'll help you).

1) Go the route of getting a Moroso exhaust tip thats cheap and everyone knows that Moroso has been around forever and a year. Not the prettiest exhaust but whatever, its still better then a Megan.

2) Go down to Discount Muffler or some muffler shop for that matter and pay a couple bucks to have them cut your old one off and weld up a crappy new one that won't sound like your ol' grandma's wet fart.

3) (and my best choice cause it helps me) Buy one of my two exhausts from me for some amount we can discuss and you'll be out of trouble and sitting a lot better and happier knowing you saved money and helped another forty owner out =)

So how 'bout it man? Give me a call @ 509-590-8268 or send me a text. My stuff is up on the northside of Spokane so we can either meet up or meet somewhere closer to you. Whatever works.

so i failed a dB test miserably...your suppose to not go above ,what is it, 94 dB.....i got a freakin 102 dB!!!.....jus a little 2 loud....lol.....to make it quieter im first goin 2 buy a silencer....then if that doesnt work i may try makein my exhaust smaller (goin from a 3 inch to a 2.5 inch exhaust diameter).....by doing this i will also get my low end back but take a little away from my high end....anybody have any ideas on where i should get a new silencer???

I think I have a silencer laying around. Have you checked out the 509 Drift or whatever its called? If you haven't, do. And if you have, you need to. They need more people.

drsb08_89240
06-09-2009, 11:41 AM
really??? i could use a new silencer.....what size is it???....and yeah ive checked them out

Charles Manson
06-09-2009, 12:45 PM
...wasn't there a bunch of posts in here between my silencer post and your last past? I'm not sure what size the silencer is, i'll have to check it out.

drsb08_89240
06-09-2009, 03:33 PM
not that i know of....there r 2 post between your post about your mufflers and your post about the silencer though

Charles Manson
06-09-2009, 07:33 PM
Haha, it was in a different thread.

So whats next and what're you doing to the car before the SCR event?

drsb08_89240
06-09-2009, 09:49 PM
idk what im planing next.....i havent found a job yet so i dont have any money 4 parts....but im goin 2 try 2 drift open diff and c how that goes.....probly not very well but ill try....lol.....once i get money im goin 2 do the J30 VLSD swap, sways bars, and coilovers among other things

Charles Manson
06-09-2009, 10:07 PM
Why not just get your diff welded up? Better then a VLSD by like 20 billion and its cheap.

drsb08_89240
06-09-2009, 10:48 PM
well i would still like 2 have the comfort of being able 2 drive it on the streets with out popping sounds coming from the rear and also accidentally drifting every corner...even though it would b fun.....lol.....idk ive thought about it....any good places in spokane that would do it 4 a low price???

And tires. It's hard to tell the officer, who pulls you over for your front plate dangling (or something) that you drive responsibly, when your rear tires are scuffed down to nubs. Does anyone make an air-locker diff, that you can operate with air so it works normally until you hit the button and lock it up for a few minutes at a time?

They do for 4x4s, I believe.... An air tank, tubing and actuators don't take up too much weight.

drsb08_89240
06-10-2009, 08:45 AM
yeah ive been thinkin about an air locker 2....idk if u can make a custom set up or not...it would b kinda kool 2 do....ill have 2 look into it

phantom should make an insert, or you can use those springs that ford trucks have that locks the diff under harsh spinning. theres tons of cheap ways to do it.

drsb08_89240
06-10-2009, 02:58 PM
yeah no1 has replied 2 that post yet but it would b awesome 2 put an air locker in my diff.....and at $350 the phantom kit is jus a bit 2 much 4 me

Charles Manson
06-10-2009, 04:42 PM
Yeah, I don't know if its just me or what but an air locker system? Serisouly guys? Were not going off roading or anything. Don't be scared and just weld it up. You won't "accidentely" drift unless you mean too. Your tires wouldn't be bald, and no "popping" noise comes from a welded diff.

If its a crappy weld job or the diff is really worn from drifting, it'll make a grinding noise. But thats after a lot of use. And not just a couple times drifting, I mean A LOT of use.

$50-60 bucks for a welded diff that I would take over an air lock system without even thinking about it.

UPDATE fella's!

The 1st drift meeting is set!

Where: Zip's on Nevada & Francis
When: June 11th, 2009 (yes tomorrow!)
Time: 6:30pm
What they'll be doing:

-They will be talking about rules, safety, when the first event will happen and anything else that needs to be addressed. This is your chance to ask any questions and have them answered!

-They are asking people (if they can) to bring there car for a "pre-tech" so they can see who will be driving and what they have in store.

PLEASE, PLEASE show up with your hoopdy or whatever. We need people! We know there's an interest!

drsb08_89240
06-10-2009, 09:34 PM

Charles Manson
06-11-2009, 12:24 AM
Yeah, it's just a meeting. Going over everything, date's and what not.

It's also a pre-tech meeting. The guys will be going over the cars to check out what they have in store and what there dealing with. (ie., battery tie down, exhaust hangers, no major leaks etc.)

Domesticated, I don't know if you have anything other then your Neon, so if you do and its RWD, show up! Tell everyone about it.

6:30pm at Zip's on Nevada and Francis.

drsb08_89240
06-11-2009, 08:49 AM
jus 2 b more specific on the location, the Zips is on Francis and Cincinnati, jus west of Nevada, and also they r still doin construction on the intersection of Francis and Nevada.....jus lettin everybody know

Charles Manson
06-11-2009, 02:45 PM
Alrigth! Yeah, the people were saying near Nevada I believe but I don't live up there. Thanks man!

Also, if you go under the Motion Sickness forum on Myspace, under "Pre-Tech", you can read the rulebook. The only big things are making sure your car doesn't leak, battery is tied down (not with duct tape or bungee cord) etc. And your car isn't going to self destruct.

See you tonight.
