On my h22 there is a plug or something on the bottom of the back of the motor. It has a single wire coming off it, I'm not really sure what it is or where I need to plug it in at on my f22 harness.
I'm thinking that after I have the f22 out of my car, I'll figure it out, but, I'd like to get this answered, asap, as to not run into any issues once the swap starts.
Grassyass to anyone who helps
Here is a pic of said part, it's under the oil cooler, sorry its a little blurry

could be the oil pressure sensor

I was thinking it had something to do with the oil, since it's right below the cooler?
Do you know if my f22 harness will have a plug for that?

it should. Check out the wiring diagram and make sure.

I agree, its the oil pressure sensor
It is the oil pressure sensor. The engine will run without it plugged into the ECU. I can't remember, but I believe I rewired that into the additional wires for VTEC through the firewall on my swap. Just don't leave additional wire hanging down ;)
It wraps around your axle and fucks shit up.

Ok, where should I plug it in at? I've got an extra wire in my VTEC harness, I'm wanting to make it look stock. So, I'll just use that spare wire
Yeah, uh... It goes in the ECU, i don't remember the exact location. It was in all the wiring write ups I read.
The F22 didn't have the oil pressure sensor, that's why you need to wire it in. I'm kind of remembering now ;)

Come on Eriksan, remember. Please?
I've looked at a lot of wire write ups, they have the VTEC solenoid, VTEC oil pressure switch, knock sensor, and the itb shit, that's it.

do you have the service manual for the H22?
90LXCB7
05-20-2009, 03:21 PM
I've got one that I found online, the only manual they had here was for a 84 to 95 Accord and Prelude, I've looked at it, what a joke.

can't believe you haven't downloaded the service manual. This is the actual one that Honda technicians use

That's the one I have, it's like 1400 pages plus? I keep forgetting I've got it on my computer, looking at it now, actually

yeah. It's real handy to have around
That is known as the VTEC oil pressure switch, or knock sensor...yah? ;)
Here is another link to a Prelude Service manual. http://92lude.com/Prelude%20IV/1993%20Prelude%20Service%20Manual.pdf

It's the oil pressure switch. I'm just not sure what pin it goes to on the ecu.
Start wrapping the stock harness around your new engine. You'll need to lengthen a few wires. This becomes self explanatory as you go. The VTEC oil pressure sender takes a different end than your stock oil pressure sensor. They essentially do the same thing. I have successfully traded ends on the stock wiring harness. A small circular electrical connector works just fine. That wire is the yellow wire with the red stripe. The knock sensor is above the oil filter, and the VTEC oil pressure sensor is below. Shielded audio wire should be used for the knock sensor if you do not have the original H22 wiring to steal. Leave yourself a nice length of wire, to easily reach into ECU area after routing the wire. The O2 sensor will be relocated to the lower part of the header, so that will also be lengthened. Finally, once you are sure that the rest of your wiring is sound, add the VTEC wires. You should have near the distributor, blue, green, and black wires. The blue and the green wires are sent to the ECU, and the black wire gets grounded somewhere to the engine.

:D Hope that helps. That's the one that got me through my swap.
Also, here is some PINOUT information for the H22A ECU, hopefully that is the ECU you will be running: http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=918703

Thanks, that's some great info. And yes, I'll be using the stock h22 ecu.

Excellent. The swap is straight forward. Its a tight fit so ease her in slowly ;) The wiring harness off the F22 wraps around the H22 with ease. A few wire need extending and the F22 injector wiring fits really tightly. I haven't tidied mine up yet. I still have a H22 down pipe laying here in my apartment with brand new o2 sensor that I need to install. :rolleyes1:
Make sure to take some pictures if you have a camera. Good luck, if you have any questions I think you have my cell phone number, just text or call.

Sweet, I was hoping to start this this week, but, the fiance's dad is sick. FML!! I've got all the necessary shit to do the swap, aside from some hoses and clamps, oh, and some coolant. Other than that, it's ready to rock. I fabbed up a VTEC harness yesterday, poked that thru the firewall, put some loom on the first section of it. I've got 2 sections of that harness. Got a shock tower plug for ease of installation and what not. I hope, if the father-in-law isn't sick this weekend, we get to start on it. I can't wait.
And I don't have you phone number, I got a new phone, lost all my contacts.
I've got my camera phone, it's a 2 megapixel, so, it should do ok, and I'll be taking pictures. I have some of the last swap, when I put my f22a4 into my car. Now, I'll have pics of my h22 going in my car

Got some more stuff done today, something that was kind of spur of the moment, but, I think with the other stuff I've got goin on, I think it turned out AMAZING. And best of all, it was free.

With this done, it makes the rest of the motor look like shit. But, I'll work on that tomorrow. Looks like I'm starting this swap either Monday afternoon or Tuesday. Hopefully it'll be done by Friday. Today was a great day

it's pretty :)
First thing I would do is get a new header
I should have repainted my valve cover before the swap, hehe, oh well :) I can still do it, just don't feel like it. Looks good. Your missing a nut on the exhaust manifold.
You going to use the F22 transmission? or you hiding an LSD from us?

Got one, it's still wrapped up in the bubble wrap in my trunk. I'm thinking about having the brackets powder coated, or I might just paint em, not sure yet.
I'm using the f22 trans, I wish I was hiding an LSD trans. I took that nut off to find some new ones, wanted to make it look all purdy when I put my new header on, but, no one in this damn town has any. Those or the valve cover nuts.
Its just going to get dirty anyway. I lost hope in keeping the H clean. :) As long as its fun to drive, I don't really care too much how it looks under the hood.

i hope its not a DC Sports header.
My buddy had one on his H22 Prelude and it fell apart after a year. He thought it was a fluke so he bought another one, just to have the same thing happen

Nah, I just got some no-name header from Ebay, I had one on my f22, never had any issues with it. I may have my brackets powder coated, depends on if dude is busy tomorrow or not.
I need to find some new hardware for my valve cover and header. And I'm really wanting an aluminum or chrome oil cap, that black one just isn't cutting it.
Haha, this turned out so good, I wanna powder coat everything. He said he could do my rims too. I think a blue fuel rail would look good, rather than the old shitty one that's on it

Well, I started the swap last night. Got the old motor out, started swapping stuff from the f22 to the h22. The ONLY issue I see, and it's not even a pressing one is going to be finding a new h22 power steering pulley. Everything else seems to be going relatively smooth. Ordered a new clutch, it'll be here in the morning. So, until then, I'm kinda stuck. May swap over wiring harnesses today, gonna clean the engine compartment and trans, it's greasy as hell. Assuming all goes well, I should be hitting VTEC by Thursday night or Friday sometime. I can't wait, I'm so excited, I think I just peed a little. Go me! :D
Thanks to those who have helped, put up with my ignorance. It's greatly appreciated. I love you guys! *huge group hug* in a non-homosexual way, of course. HA HA!!

I'll just post this here since I'm not seeing the thread about my car sputtering.
So, I ordered some dsm 390 injectors, finally got em in, seems that was the culprit with my idle issue. I installed the new injectors, started my car, it idled perfectly, gave it some gas, no sputter, it picked up like it's supposed to. But, they're leaking, I don't think they're fully seated and it seems like the dsm injectors might be a little bigger than the f22 injectors, in terms of diameter, so, I'll get new seals tomorrow morning, since I'm working today and see what happens.
Thanks guys for your help, it's greatly appreciated.

I'd be much happier if they weren't leaking, but, I'll try to get it fixed tomorrow. I was so relieved when I started it, the idle jumped to about 1500, stayed steady, no fluctuating, then I just tapped the gas, expecting it to bog out like normal, nope, it just climbed, I was happy.

Glad you got it fixed. Now you just need to get some new seals and you will be set.

Haha, I just found that link, right before I saw you posted it.
Well, I called Schmucks and they said they had em in stock, a complete set for 4 dollars, so, hopefully I can get em tomorrow and get this problem fixed.
Anyone know anything about the aftermarket engine oil coolers/ oil filter relocation kits?

Okay, so after going to Schuck's and every other parts store in town, the ONLY gaskets I could find were the little o-rings. Disgusted with life in this small town, I decided to break out the trusty Dremel and see if I could modify the gaskets to work, they did. So, no more sputtering, no more check engine lights. It's like driving my car with a new engine. I love it.
Thanks to everyone that helped with this, I appreciate it
