View Full Version : Air intake temp sensor mod
Is there any negatives to the chip for your air intake temp to tell it its a lower temp? Is this mod worth looking into sounds like its a good hp increase!

Well I don't know much about Toyotas but in my opinion if your oxygen temp sensor is reading cooler then what it really is , to me it sounds not right. I say this cause cooler air has a higher density oxygen level than hot air, that's why turbocharged motors have intercoolers, and that's the reason for hood scoops/vents, and cold air intakes, to put cooler oxygen in your motor. But I could be totally wrong, that's just my 2 cents for ya.

it wouldn't give you any HP gains. Actual cooler air would.
It could throw off your fuel management system.

those "chips" you get are actually resistors that disrupt the ait input and make the motor think the airs cooler, therefore adding more fuel. running slightly richer. this will gain a slight increase if your motor naturally runs a little lean. but if your motor naturally runs rich you will lose power. dont buy one. its completely usesless and fyi it cost about 3 cents to buy one and some dude puts one in a plastic box and sells it for 10 to 20. dont get it, they are all pretty much universal and therefore wont work correctly. it will drop th eohm load to your ecu, but your car may need it raised instead
