Oh boy. It will certainly serve a purpose. It will let everyone in the trailer park have a brand new car. I wonder what the warranty is like? 3 days or 36 miles?

:lawl: That's what I was thinking. I can't see this as a reliable source of transportation. But I guess if it does break down, it's an effortless push to the shop. And I bet it took 15 minutes to reach that said 75 mph.

ust cause its cheap doesnt necessarily mean its gonna be unrealiable. its cheap cause everything is in small portions... its only a two cylinder .6L. and lookin back a the beetles, they were cheap and very reliable.

"Reliable" and "Volkswagen" do not belong in the same sentence.:nono:
I had a 1969 bus. My family owned five of them. It took that many parts cars to keep one running. If you drove it gentle, you could get 100,00 miles out of them before needing to overhaul the engine. If you drove it too gentle, you only got 80,000. Weird.
There should be very little wear on the suspension parts but I have to think everything is probably made light and weak.
The new SPECK!

Dude, to do an overhaul on a older VW engine take a half day if that and that includes removing and installing the engine. The older VWs really weren't that bad.

And the Speck's engine probably has a handle on it, like a briefcase.
The problem with the older VWs was not that they were hard to work on, but that you had to do it all the time.
I never had to worry about anyone stealing my car because I figured I was the only one who knew how to start it in all the varying weather conditions.
Cold? you had to get out and put a margarine container lid over the carb. The lid had a hole cut in it so it would be a "choke".
Wet? You had to wipe down the plug wires so the condensation would not short them out.
Hot? Put the pedal to the floor and crank for three seconds, then let off and crank and it'd fire right up.
"Normal"? Three pumps of the pedal, turn the key while easing down slowly, on the pedal and it'd fire up halfway down.
You had to adjust the valve lash every 10,000 miles, check the points, set the timing and replace plugs and condenser, every 15,000 miles.
If you didn't you'd get about 50,000 miles (three years) before having to overhaul.
The first "tune up" my car needs comes at 100,000 miles. It consists of changing the spark plugs... and that's it.

And a giant banner across the windshield so the driver has to hunch over to see the road. A chrome paint job. Rubber band tires, spoilers on the roof, back window and trunk.
How could I forget?!?!? The 50 LCD screen monitors and array of speakers/video game inputs, scattered about the inside and outside of the vehicle.

the banner has to say either what kind of car it is or the brand of the car so everyone knows that its a whatever the hell it is just like people with accord and honda accross there windshield like we dont know what the hell that spaceship is flying down the road at half the speed of smell.

I agree highly. I would afraid to drive one of these just because if someone accidentally rear ended up doing 5-10mph, it'd be considered totalled.

I can't believe I forgot this little tidbit of forgotten VW lore.
My bus did 0-50 in 18 seconds. I shit you not. It had a top speed of 65 and believe me, I had it at that speed once and it was SCREAMING! If not over 4500 RPM, it was close.
I bet, me and one other person, could get the engine in and out in 45 minutes. It could easily be carried by two people. The whole (air cooled) engine weighed 250 pounds. The number three cylinder did not get as much airflow as the other ones so VW owners, in the know, opened the #3 exhaust valve up a bit more, to keep it cooler.
The air filter never needed to be replaced because the air was filtered up through a tub of oil, like a bong.

no wonder VW owners made great bongs
Now THATS a bad ass car:rolleyes1:
I wont ever drive near one of those, the driver is guaranteed to change 4 lanes while signaling in the opposite direction, then hit you 3 times before realising it.
Sorry for the obvious steriotype.
