So it happen about 3 weeks ago. I had pulled into a parking lot to talk to a friend. I got out of my car and talked to them for about 20-30 minutes with my car idling. Well all of a sudden I hear this hissing and I look and there is antifreeze pouring out of my overflow. So i turn it off and let it cool down then am pulling out to go home and realize i hit my ac button which explains why i was overheating. Well tonight i am talking to some friends and i can smell antifreeze and my overflow antifreeze is bubbling and pouring out. What would cause this? I have always left my car idling when i talk to friends and have never had a problem
Thermostat is stuck closed... buy a new one, its a $15 fix.

Good call eric probably the thermastat. Worse case your water pump went out. Is there any leaking down by your lower timing belt plastic cover piece? D and B series honda water pumps I know for sure have these 2 small weep holes that leak coolant out when your W/P goes out. Just something to check out too.
i told him weeks ago it was the thermostat....but no one listens to me unless i have food in my hand haha jk

It's not leaking out the timing cover

even with the AC on, your car shouldn't overheat.
make sure your fans kick on, make sure you don't have any air in the system, do a pressure check on the radiator and replace the thermostat.
Does your heater work well? if it goes from hot to cold then you have air in the cooling system.
What coolant mixture are you using? You don't want to go higher than 70/30 and no lower than 50/50

My Heater works amazing. and i am running 50/50.
I'm telling you, thermostat. $15 or less... try it, see if it works, it probably will. Its so easy to change! Overheating issue will be gone :P
Just do it!!

Yeah it's a pretty simple job. Just follow your upper radiator hose to where it hooks up to, somewhat back below your distributor , there you'll find the thermastat housing. Remove the few 10mm bolts, unplug your temp sensor, and ground and you'll have access to your thermastat. Just be sure you re-bolt down that ground wire or your car will run like shit. Another good tip, remove your air intake, it helps add a bunch more wrenchin room :-D

Naw man its pretty simple. The hardest part probably is removing the lower rear thermastat housing hold down bolt. Its pretty much hidden behind the radiator hose. Use like a quarter inch drive wrench with a short extension with a 10 mm socket. Also throw a towel kinda underneath it cause you'll have a little amount of coolant come out. The whole job will cost you about 25 bucks. About 15 for the thermastat, 2-3 bucks for a new thermastat seal, and like another 5-8 bucks for some more anti-freeze.
Pay attention to the thermostat too, it goes in 1 way, you don't want to put it in backwards.

Here's some good info you might wanna check out about Honda cooling systems.

Here's a little helpful guide to help see the whole job a little easier. Note that the picture is like viewing it from the rear of the motor. So it kind of looks as backwards when standing at the front of your motor looking at the picture they show on the link.
Also the picture they show has the distributor removed for easier viewing.

Make sure to burp the coolant system too, so you don't create hot spots on your block.

Yeah good call man. The bleeder bolt is located where the upper radiator hose connects to your motor. It looks kind of like a little tit with a hole on the top of it. You just gotta loosin it until you get a steady flow of coolant coming out of it, basically like bleeding your brakes.

LOL, hopefully your not driving it around, risking seizing the engine :( Then it will be more expensive to fix.

LMAO just did this like less than a week ago! Its' pretty easy but like BackwoodzTuner said, the only hard part is that damn lower thermostat housing bolt! Also its a good idea to buy a new gasket with your new thermostat as well, since you'll be taking it apart anyways ;)
