So my girlfriend brought her car in to have it checked out before a trip she's gonna take in December.

The mechanic said she's missing transmission brackets? Kind of confusing, I'm having her have him write down exactly what's missing because I'll be helping her find the parts.

But anyway, sounded kind of weird. Does anybody here know anything about Eclipse's? Like, are the tranny mounts for a 5-speed M/T the same for an A/T? (all stock)?

I'll update this thread when I get more exact information from her.

Is there any difference between the A/T brackets for a turbo Eclipse vs. N/A Eclipse?

I'm looking at this:

Friend said they're different. :(

Yes, your friend is right and to add there is a difference between the 5spd and Autos for one of the mounts. The N/A Eclipse/talons are powered by the chrysler 420A (2.0 Neon motor) and corresponding chrysler transmissions.

Here is the part number and IPB

According to Mitsubishiparts.net you are looking at around $50-60 if you want new.

Do you work for them or something? 'Cause I found the part and everything, but my screen definitely looks a lot different than your screen shots.

Also I feel like I found 2 of the same thing for different prices? Know if there's a difference? I tried looking it up from scratch on the website to make sure it was the right car and everything.

And this is what I got when I looked up the specific part number you found:

Nope, I work on Turboprop Airplanes. I take it you have a copy of Mitsubishi CAPS? This is the newer version aka Mitsubishi ASA that has automatic online updates, same exact one the dealer uses:biggrin:

This is right "w/ turbo, auto trans, w/o convertible"

This is the N/A Spyder which is a 2.4 4G64 - you don't want this. Turbo DSMs have the 2.0 4G63T

same price I saw when i looked it up, I've used mitsubishiparts.net before when I got my E-brake cables through them. They are based in Tacoma I believe.

Sweet, thanks man. Seriously, uber helpful.

So I wonder why Mitsubishiparts.net routed me to AutoCenter.net, and the bracket on AutoCenter is more expensive than Mitsubishiparts. *shrugs* If it's the same thing I'll go with Mitsubishiparts I guess.

Mitsubishiparts.net:

AutoCenter.net, not sure what happened here, goes from "Your Price: $50" to "Total Cost: $101", ha.

nothing wrong with spare parts! I got another 16g to install, so I have in total 3 o2 housings, 3 turbo oil drain tubes, 2 TDO5H compressor housings, 1 6cm Turbine housing and 1 7cm Turbine Housing.

BUMP- so I finally got a chance to talk to the mechanic that looked at the car. It's not the tranny mounts that are missing, but 2 out of 3 brackets.

This is what he told me (from what I caught), a CV axle attaches to the motor through a carrier bearing of some sort. This is attached to the block by 3 bolts, each bolt having it's own separate bracket.

The bracket that is there is holding the carrier bearing thing to the block.

That's all that's there. The two other brackets that are missing are supposed to be holding it to other stuff.

Any info? I'm going to be looking online for some diagrams, so if anybody knows where some are please feel free to post the links!

I'm not entirely sure what this is and might have my wording wrong, so I'll update if I clarify anything.

Mitsubishi guys you're up!!

Thanks a bunch dude. As for the pic, thaaat's what I'm thinking. 'Cause this guy said this(quote), but if that's what it looks like, then why's the mechanic saying that it's held on by 1 bolt right now, and the two other "brackets" aren't even there, 'cause that pic doesn't look like you could take one of the parts off, it's just one piece.

I have a 5-speed AWD Talon, but I believe the carrier bearing connection is the same. If it is already up there, than you should just need bolts. I do not remember seeing a special bracket on either my original Turbo motor, or the motor I installed out of an Automatic. JUst bolted up, only took 2 bolts though. No place for a third.

So I called up Mitsubishiparts.net and the guy looked at an exploded view, etc.

He said there's actually only supposed to be 1 bracket!

If this seems right to you guys let me know. Otherwise I'm happy.

That pic shows the intermediate shaft connected to the cv axle, so it would look like one piece. I think it's right, because I could find nothing on extra brackets, in Mitsu ASA, nor have I heard of there being "3 brackets" to hold the axle on. I'd listen Mitsubishiparts.net over a general automotive mechanic. I've had too many times when i've had to get parts for my car and get told there is no such thing as awd turbo galant.

Haha, and then you're like, "Wellllllllll, I'm gonna go drive off in my imaginary car now...".

Alright man, thanks for all your help, seriously. I'll post if there's any more weird stuff, haha.

In case anybody's interested (RaptorReed, ha) here's an update on the mystery bracket situation.

SO, turns out the Engine and transmission are not the stock engine and transmission, but rather the (asslancing) previous owner did an engine and tranny swap and failed to inform the buyer (my gf and I).

Upon doing so he removed the A/C unit.

One bracket is fine, one bracket goes to the (nonexistent) A/C unit, and one goes to the block. So basically we're trying to get the block bracket in.

Option 1: there are 3 possible choices the Mitsubishi dealership found for brackets since they don't know which one will work. They can order them all and guess and check, OR-

Option 2: the mechanic that has it right now custom fabricates a bracket in.

I'm going with Option 2 right now, this summer when I actually get to be with the car and deal with it in person I'm going to try to find an A/C unit and see if I can get the car closer to stock. But for now we just gotta get it "safe" so she can drive it Anchorage through Tok to Haines!

Tok averages around -60F on a good day in the winter, haha. So I'm going to be trying to find her a block and oil heater too.

Whew. I'll update after the guy gets back to me from workin' on that bracket.
