Ok so I'm running ls vtec in my rex b18b1 block b16 head so my first question is it still is running good I just
Want to make it more reliable I was going to order eagle rods and replace them so can I just take the engine out and drop the oil pan
And pull the pistons out and replace the rods and then put it back together or. Does it have to be machined or what??
Then my seconds question is to make a full b16 what all do I need besides a block r the head bolts and gaskets tha same
Same witht the clutch and flywheel and can I swap the alternator and oil sending unit r they interchangeable

well first off, youll need aftermarket pistons also to mate onto the rods most likely. and second you can't pull your rods/pistons out through the bottom. and why would you want to go from a b18 to a b16. never heard of anyone doing a swap to a smaller engine

You cannot pull the pistons out of the bottom of any Honda block as far as I'm concerned.

oops, forgot the 't in cant edited. nice catch
if your going for reliabilty, i dont think anything is more reliable than stock.
Unless your making more power than oem can handle.

He has the B18 block with the B16 vtec head. I am running this setup right now, the b16 has slightly higher compression than putting on the Gsr head like most do. Also the stock B16 from japan makes 205hp stock compared to the B18b1 that only makes around 145hp stock. Not trying to sound cocky or anything I just thought I would share what I know =)

where are you getting your info? The EK Type-R makes 185hp. That is the biggest HP output B16. As a matter of fact, no B series ever made 205hp stock. Best B-Series HP output was 200hp from the JDM Integra Type-R.

sorry for the delay in response. A buddy of mine had a B16a2 imported for his car, after the install he did a dyno run putting it at 204hp. It checked out as completely stock, but you are right as far as internet specs go so I dont know. And the type R B18c5 motor made 195hp ;)
