Had a request from another member to post up my car. I put up a build thread elsewhere, but will give a brief here..
Step 1 : Buy a 3rd gen rx7
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b23/xcannibalx/93_FD_RX7-5.jpg
Bought it non-running on craigslist...Turns out it was only coolant temp sensor. Replaced, and it ran. This was the first time i drove it:

Was mostly stock when i bought it, with the exception of the wheels. I bought the car with the intention of doing an LS1 swap (i had a 2nd gen i put an LS1 in, but i always wanted an FD).
Step 2 : Buy a motor
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b23/xcannibalx/IMG_2269.jpg
2000 Camaro ls1/t56 combo. 15k on setup.
Step 4 : Remove crap motor
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b23/xcannibalx/DSCN0397.jpg
Step 5 : Install and enjoy

Future plans will be suspension, changing up my shoes, a few exterior upgrades, and maybe a cam.
:cornut:
Nice! I have a friend considering something similar for his FD. The rotary has been giving him nothing but problems.
Need a baller detail and photoshoot come springtime!

Awesome! I always liked RX7's, but I heard they were a pain to work on sometimes. It'd be nice to do this swap since I know nothing about rotary engines, (kinda), then again, it'd be nice to learn a bit too.
I heard the RX's took a downfall with the RX-8, are they really that much worse? Or is it just preference, etc.
**EDIT; just found out [thanks wiki!] RX-8's are kinda a whole different car, ehh?

I love white FD's ... Wish i could have found one.
I hate that front bumper, and the RE-amemiya taillight cover is awful. Those sideskirts also are a bit much.
I do like those fixed headlights (about the only ones that i do), and the engine bay is super clean.

nice fd's the body kit is a bit much for me but there both badass looking.

Yeah, he's got all sorts of diffusers and shit around the body. My props to him for keeping the body kit super clean though, there's no damage at all to it.
My next car I'm definitely going to go with a lip kit though, since they're easy to put on and take off, etc.
Is that black part on your FD stock?

Yah, that car is up in alaska...He posts his car in the picture thread quite often on the rx7club... I will admit it is a super clean car, i just like the stock body lines a bit more...
And the front lip is actually a 99 spec lip (JDM)

Yeah he's in AK. He's kinda a douche (cough), but alright at the same time I guess. Older guy.
Yeah, I like the stock body lines too. I like both the ways you can set up the headlights too. Flip out vs. inset or whatever.

500 HP? I doubt it, judging by the mods on his car. BTW, it's for sale...he wants $25K, without those wheels, or seats...Yes, $25K will buy you a car that you cannot drive home unless you bring a milk crate ...lol. Weak shit.

Kyle, yours is way cooler. I want to see it with new wheels and tires though. How's the weight distribution? Does it feel funny, in the turns, at all? Any idea on the total vehicle weight?
Gtikyle

The wheels are still in the works..Trying to figure out what i want to spend money on first ... LOL.
The weight distribution is pretty solid. Most people think because it's a 1.3 liter that it originally came with, it has to be so incredibly light. The rotary motor is all iron, with a heavy ass manifold and bulky twin turbos. The ls1 is all aluminum block and heads. I switched to a smaller 51R battery, and put it behind the passenger seat. I've seen other guys out there without PS running about 20lb's lighter than the car came originally equipped. I don't currently have A/C, so i imagine that i'm somewhere in that range, although i haven't weighed the car yet. I did weigh it with the rotary before i did the swap...in full street trim with spare tire, stock sound system, and a 1/4 tank of gas, i was at 2820lb. I hope to be right around that as it sits.
Weight distribution is still really good too. The motor is pushed back as far as it will go against the firewall. I've seen videos of people corner weighting their cars at Autox events, and be at 51F/49R. Turn in is amazing, and handling is just as tight as it was. This car still has one of the most amazing handling chassis...now it has some reliable HP's to go with it.
I've got a few goodies on the way for xmas, so I'll post some new pics when they are installed.
Thanks for the kind words guys.

I've always liked this gen RX7, but I've heard they can be somewhat hard to work on. If someone was to get one, would you suggest you they wait until they have more experience working on cars before taking it on? Or would it be an alright "starting" car?
Gtikyle

Rotary cars make the worst "first car"....Especially the FD's...They are a lot of maintenance, and if they weren't upkept, they will be a nightmare. No one knows how to work on them, and they are finicki

Ha so I've heard. If I were to get one someday, I'd definitely want to look into doing your swap too. I think it'd be interesting, and for no reason at all I don't really like rotary engines, haha.
