Not sure I believe a FaceBook post, quoted on some guy's blog isthe same as "confirmation" but....
http://www.autoblog.com/2009/12/17/2011-ford-mustang-gt-to-offer-412-horsepower-5-0l-v8/1#c24022740
No mention of torque numbers and Ford Racing's page does not mention the existence of this engine, at all. Ford has not said anything either so....
They do mention a 306 but there's no numbers for it and that's about close enough to a 5.0L. Who knows?

about time Ford made an actual 5.0 instead of a 302 (4.9L)

about time ford gets put back in the headlines..everyone talks about the chargers and camaros bein so great, but now they got somin to run against. Personally i think even the look of the car is better then the charger/camaro. its not all jacked up like the others.and that 5.0 it gunna tear sh!t up.

390 lbs. ft. of tq, @ 6500RPM. That's peak. So I'm guessing it's got a redline of 7500, or so. That's the nature of 4V engines. High revving, low torque. It makes all those pretty hp numbers buyers want to see, with none of the pesky side effects of performance or speed.
In other words, this engine will bog until 5000 RPM. The current 4.6 makes it's peak torque at 4,000 RPM. You get a lot of torque at low engine speeds.
But if all you want is torque; you have to go with diesel. Let's all hope they never make a diesel Mustang :(
