So my friend did his on his Aurora and it looked really good, I like the way blacked out tail lights look but was afraid to make the jump and do them. I went to Napa and got a can of VHT NITE-SHADE and a can of Clear. I figured I would like to see how it looked first so I sprayed a spare corner lens and liked the way it looked and figured out how thick to put it on. So I decided to go ahead and do the 3rd break light since it was starting to rain I didn't want to pull the tail lights out and also if I needed to go somewhere i could get away without a 3rd break light. Here are the results. I'll try to take better pictures, i used my bb so they aren't the best.

That looks pretty dang good! I also like what Mitch put on his. Not sure what I'm gonna do with mine lol

It should look pretty good when you're all done!

Yeah, he pointed me to the guy who makes them, it was like 10 bucks. I could have ninja make me one ;)

Well I spent 12 bucks on a can of Nite-Shade and 5 on a can of clear! :(
but i will be able to do more then just the 3rd break light. I want to color match the 3rd breaklight one day but this will do for now.

That would be pretty sweet too. If you do that, you should mold the light in so it looks like nothing is there, until you press the brakes... that would be sick!

Both parts are plastic so it is possible. Never thought of doing it, maybe i will if do it.

Yeah that's the one. But if I remember correctly, they stop the vinyl at the screw covers. I would want it to cover those.

But yeah bubba, that was just an idea that popped in my head lol. I bet you could do it, you're the body man!

Looks good dude! Definitely turned out well. 'Specially since you've got LED's in there. The older cars/trucks that just have bulbs, sometimes tinting them makes them so dim they're pointless, but yours looks good man!

1st post edited. Still gonna wet sand them and buff them out to get them to shine up pretty good. I am pretty happy with VHT Nite-Shade, but it wasn't great. We will see how the durability is on it.

Looks good only thing I don't like about night shades is how they look flat but looks like your changing that good job.

Thanks. Yeah i didn't want the flat look, which is a reason i went with a gloss clear coat.

Looks good! I think it should last you a while since you put the clear coat on. Only one way to find out I guess lol

This has to be the best black out job I've seen. Not sure what he used though.

Theres a technique that uses a bunch of sanding/wet sanding, buffing, and a few hours of work that makes it look like that. Usually they use the same stuff its just way more laborous it just makes it look bettr. it might be what they did there but idk

That is what I plan on doing. I specialize in making paint look good when it's done. Cutting and Buffing has always been my favorite part of the painting process.

If it turns out good on yours i might pay one of you guys to do mine like that. I'm not good with that kind of stuff and id probably mess em up. So if you could make mine look like that id pay you.
