So today as most of you know was the Northwest Nissan Golden Gardens meet. It also happened to be the Northwest Motoring XXX Rootbeer meet. I was pretty hyped to make it down to both of these events considering I have never been to either meet before. So this morning I made an effort to wake up early as hell AKA 6am to meet up with Cory (blackice) and Tim (raptor reed).

I would have to say the way down was pretty boring considering I was still basically asleep and the weather kept a few people away. However a grip of Skylines made it down from BC and one other guy brought his Nissan President. Pretty much the 2nd coolest car I saw today IMO. First was the Aston Martin Vantage. I will get back to that later. Anyways being so early I didn't get too many pictures of the way down. Here are a couple I did manage to get though... (BTW) sorry about the cracked window status on Cory's car lol.

Finally there.

Once we were there I never managed to get a big nice shot of everything because it was so spread out and it was off and on raining. I did manage to find some pretty cool stuff while I was here. I think the Nissan guys are some of the most creative in expressing themselves through there car.

Anyways after a few hours of hanging out with the Nissan crowd, we decided to head down to XXX Rootbeer to see what was going on there. Of course on the way down we needed to have a little fun so we hit up I-90.

So after hours of being out and about doing car things we finally got tired and hungry and decided to head back North. By that time it was completely pouring and made the ride home shitty. I did however manage to get a couple last good shots of my friend Tomas's evo.

justin

It is a drifting thing I guess. Gives madd downforce to keep the rear squatted. That would be my guess lol. I don't really understand it either but whatever ha.

more grip in the rear, same reason evo/sti have them. honda's on the other hand :rolleyes1:

I understand the whole down force concept, but the 1st picture isn't bad. The 2nd one, I was expecting an old guy sitting on it reading a newspaper.

blackice
03-28-2010, 09:31 PM
just a gt style wing, if you look at a flow chart of the car's aero you would see the flow off the roof putting more pressure on a spoiler at that height. justin and i actually discussed this today and agreed though that most people have no idea how to adjust them correctly after install lol.

gotrice93
03-28-2010, 09:33 PM
Makes sense. The look of them just aren't my cup of tea, but to each their own. It's not my car so I don't have any say.

blackice
03-28-2010, 09:36 PM
yeah for sure, it is pretty extreme unless you actually track the car and/or have a kit/widebody/aero parts to go with it. i prefer wingless or oem on a car with mostly stock body parts too.

justin
03-28-2010, 09:42 PM
Lol yeah, I'm 99% sure that this gt wing craze it only for looks. I'm not a huge fan of them at all unless it is for teal purpose. About the only one that I think looks half way decent is on the evo toward bottom of the photos I took today. He was saying that he gets so much downforce in the rear that it dented his trunk lol.

according to one of the admins at nwmotring there were about 600 cars that came in and out

justin
03-28-2010, 10:29 PM
It seemed like it was just an open forum event. There were a lot of cars there that I saw at golden gardens today. The trend seemed to be golden gardens in the morning then XXX rootbeer in the afternoon.

600 might have been a little high of a number but I isn't see what it was like in the morning. I could say there was prolly 450-500 in and out when I saw there. It was cars all over the damn place lol.

I got rid of it to some guy who I "think" might live somewhere near Lewiston, South of me. Maybe he drove up there though, ha.

Gold rims, CF hood, body kit, pretty dang dark tint. Those would be the give aways, but you never know, ha.

@meta yeah nevermind then this one had dark rims and stuff on it. It was just like same color and stuff. I haven't seen many accords
in that color, but then again I've never been to a Honda meet.

Yeah plus some dirty guy bought it. Almost 80% sure one of you guys'll see it driving around sometime with only 2 rims, a spare and some random rim on it, broken body kit and the tint torn off the front from tickets sometime, haha.

What's with the huge park bench wings on the Nissan's? looks like a fun trip down, and nice cars.

so i got to thinking about wing height on my way home. the wing creates a force downward kinda. it creates a force that in the direction of the wings surface. so in terms of force, it creates a force pushing straight down, but since the moment of inertia of the vehicle is at the center, there is a small force pushing straight to the back of the car around the axis where the center of mass is creating a torque. torque is eqivalent to the force multiplied by the distance perpendicular from the the axis, so the further up the wing is, the more torque or downward pressure it puts on the rear end. if you were to attach a wing to a scale and measure force there it wouldnt matter how high it is, but since the car has suspension and rotates, it pushes on an axis, therefore creating a torque also. so having the wing higher up creates the same amount of drag, neglecting airflow close to the car, but will create more total force pushing down on the rear of the car. also having the wing further back creates more of a force in the downward direction because it is further from the axis or center of mass

Domesticated

well i know that, i was just stating that the higher up they are, the more traction you get, so having the wing super high up, though unattractive, is more functional! :p
