Went andgot some vht today. Did a test run on my old extra tail light...and decided id do 3 coats on the ones in the car. Did the 3rd tail light too...
I fucked up on the 3rd tail light but you cnt tell very much, and the left tail light is kinda fucked up. Ima hit up pull n save and maybe re-do those ones.

they look good to me in the pictures. I'll be doing the same thing this summer when we get some decent sun here haha. Did you do any finish work to them to get them that glossy? or does it just dry that way?

It dries that way. I didn't use any clear...it looks glossy and good, when you feel it it doesnt feel as smooth but who cares how it feels. Just make sure you wash everything throughly before you paint em. my left one is kinda blotchy, and my 3rd brake light has cracks cuz the glue and grime wasnt washed from em. Scuffing em up before you paint would help too. I think my next one is gunna be my bumper lights but i cant figure out how to get them out of the bumper o.o

Dude, make sure you use different grit sand paper, sand it down, start with like 800, move to 2000 and you can get those things looking glossy!
After sanding they wont be glossy, just get some polishing compound and rub that on, then wax it and it'll be really nice!
Sanding'll also get rid of any runs and mess ups you have.

Woah, deja vu... lol
They really don't look too bad. You'll noticed more faults than other drivers/bystanders because you did the work. I think you can get away with 1 or 2 more coats as well ;)

Yeah, i didn't have much know-how on the sanding and stuff and makin em look glossy. I think the third brake light will work for now and ill live with the left light...i just did the side markers too. and i was thinkin about doin more coats but is hard to see th brake lights through em now, so i'd rather not give the cops more reaon topull me over.

Well you gotta start somewhere right? Experience is the best teacher. But yeah, do what you gotta do to keep the cops happy lol.
There's 50/50 tails for the Sol, and I want to black out the red portion as black as I can, and retrofit LED's in there so they shine through there real nice. They will be sick. I've got so many little plans, and very few of them will actually get done haha

Could you rretrofit LED's? i know they shine through WAY better...jetblack's taillights are just as black as his car and his led's shine through like its clear. i might be interested in this LED idea

You don't have to retro fit LED's you just put them in replace of your stock bulbs. You need a resistor box if you don't want them to blink fast for blinkers. Dave's are also just black covers i think, they aren't painted so they defiantly will be brighter.

oh really? so would it just be a mall circle of led's the size of ur stock bulb? cuz it seems if the tail light isnt blacked out enough u'd see the led too much an it'd just look like a little cluster of led's. Cuz in these type of LED tail lights you can see the individual bulb and the large cluster of them makes it look like a full tail light http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11501193/LED_Tail_Light_for_Mazda3.jpg

Yeah you don't have to retrofit, you can get the replacement LED cluster "bulbs" at autozone. I'm trying to find a picture of the retrofit I'm referring to...
EDIT: Oh yes.

And he made the reverse light a strip of LED's

Yeah retrofitting isn't something you should dive into, I know I cant haha. But these are just ideas for the future ;)

Well and ur car is alot rarer then mine. i can go get a set of tail lights from pull n save or $20 and screw around all i want with em and it doesnt matter cuz i still got other ones to fall back on. There isn't really a surpluss of del sol parts out there ha.

Yeeaahhh there really isn't haha..... So you're lucky in that sense, you can try out a few different things relatively cheaply. And when you get a good feel for it, you can get some aftermarkets to pull apart and customize :D

Gah, I've been looking at DIY's for retrofitting TSX projectors into the OEM 7th gen Accord headlights. Faaakkk. I'm afraid of messing stuff up, haha. Unless I can get my hands on a set of spares!
Here's a website off this other forum I'm on DriveAccord.net, they're like, a sister forum to V6performance.net. These guys do tons of HID's, LED's, retrofits, etc. Check out their site.
One of their guys is always posting on DA.net too, so you can ask questions if you have them.

Try and look on craigslist/local junk yards for cars like yours. Even though it would be rare/borderline impossible to get a 2003 accord with good headlights, but if you do find em grab the headlights up quick so u can mess wth em and still have ur stock ones. it'd suck to tinker with ur only set and mess em up and have no headlights:P

Yup, definitely. I'm going to keep an eye out for good deals. Should have the Spokane guys let me know if they ever see on at Pull 'N Save for some reason, ha.
Other than that, I think I'm going to leave mine OEM for now. :/
Also looking for spare front windows! Tint laws in my hometown are lame, and it's easy to rectify a fix it ticket by swapping out the winders, haha. Oldest trick in the book! 'Cept it's getting harder and harder with them new fangled fancy car doors now. :D

Yeah dude, VHT ftw for sure. I've used it on tail lights before, but for now I don't wanna do it to my only pair of tail lights and head lights, haha. I'll wait until summer when I get home.

i say for your tail lights, just do the strip in the middle of the light. leave the red alone. i've seen em on my year accords and it looks rpetty tigt. Your car being black it would be subtle yet change the look of em alot

I'm possibly thinking the opposite! Haha. Tint the red a bit, just to tone it down so it's less noticeable, and leaving the reverse light. :D
Here's a pic of a guy who tinted his fronts:

It looks good but I would be iffy about doing headlights. You jeopardizing some of the light at night I would imagine.

Cops where I come from don't mind, ha. Lots of people got 'em.

True, if I throw in Ebay projectors, smoked, with HID's it'll ease the glare from them since they're not perfect.
And as for light output, I'm gonna prolly put some 5000k's in my fogs. :D So that'll help.

i might buy an extra set of headlights and try it for a bit at least. see how it turns out. they look good tho...oh another idea. tint the reverse lights red too so you have all red tail lights. jsut another idea
