Friends 89 accord altenator

So friends altenator went out in his 89 accord. lxi. and I'm wonderin if theres a way we can pull the altenator without pulling the front axel. I dont know fi you've worked on an altenator on an 89 before, o if their the same as the 90-93 but they don't sit right on top. It's burried deep down ad we tried pulling the strut out on my other friends when his went out and we couldn't even pull it out like that. So i'm wondering if anyone knows a secret, or easier way to pull this altenator. he has very little money so taking it to a shop not n option. any feedback is great.

if its like a cb7 just undo the two or three bolts holding on the power steering pump and hang it to the side, then just undo the alternator and replace it.
