yeah just got it recently from a friend......its a real turd...no not "trd"

but its just my kind of project. beyond a few other car i have brought back from the dead i'm hoping to do some crazy stuff to this car (hopefully make some people go omg why did he do that and than make them eat rubber.)

budgets often create some of the craziest stuff in my opinion.

its rattle can white at the moment, has been through hell and back.
has the 4ac 85 hp!!!! woo hoo! yeha baby!

and need a drivers seat...HAHAHAHAHA.

so heres to the love of working on cars. maybe ill post pics when its um drivable...

i need the clutch pedal mounts (it apparently used to be an auto) got that semi functioning but really wont last long.

and if you guys are willing to part with the carb or really anything else just tell me. im really hoping to just get it up and running as the sr5 and than look into options for power.

that will come later.

Post pics. I love the AE86's

okay okay i will, i will...lol just like i said before if something terrible happens like that little girl from "the ring" shows up because i posted this atrocity. dont blame me...

Its not all that bad. Maybe the interior needs a little work...and the exterior...and the motor...and everything else...but its not that bad. Lol. It will be pretty kick ass when its gets up and running.

I think the carb in it is brand new dude. Bring it up to the shop and have robert adjust the floats and whatnot to get the idle down. Probably want him to throw some exhaust on it too so it doesnt sound like a weed whacker anymore. It wont take much to get that thing decent.

AlienVictim

no offense bryce, but that carb was trashed by the former owner.
the butterfly and return spring are thrashed, and the jets probably need replacement.

when the stock hardware will no longer fit. and you literally use the trunk cable from another car to make a throttle cable because there's no standard cable connector on the carb at all.

jesus......

and the idle isn't the issue, and hasn't been one. the problem is the throttle slowly creeps up and will ramp up until the rpm's redline. which isn't an idle issue its either a vacuum issue or there's a problem with the butterfly.

no amount of messing with the idle or mixture screw will fix that.

but it also needs brake work. and for the clutch assembly to be finished (ie welded into place.) instead of being a bracket made from lowes hardware parts.......grrrr.

it needs more work than you know (trust me considering i got it running in the first place.) :rolleyes1:

funny stuff about the people who owned it before... they tried to connect the brake master cylinder lines to the steering rack?

FIXED

they cut the springs in the rear and front..... but cut the rear springs 1 inch shorter on the right than the left

FIXED

they installed a manual sr5 engine and tranny into an automatic frame.....so no pedals or even cables ran to and from the engine.

FIXED

No clutch pedal.....

FIXED

massive exhaust leaks

Some but Not all fixed

drivers seat.....missing.

not fixed (anyone got one?)

hole chopped in frame where shifter and boot come through. ground can be seen......

Not fixed

missing rear license plate bulb holders and misc bracketry

Not fixed

massive amounts of zip ties holding bumper together in imaginary ways, but not even looking like a drift repair......and garden trim dragging on ground........

FIXED (shame on you!!!!!!!)

double check scary installation of tranny and engine to make sure all mounts and lines were installed fixed and safe.

FIXED

Soul crushing damage to fender caused by no ability to tuck or roll fenders.......

Not fixed.

flip up headlights, repaired by jason and i.

and my friend jason is a pimp

and pictures will make eyes bleed.

damn dude. When you text me the other day I didn't think it was going to be this bad. You def have a project on your hands lol. In anycase when you are done with it I am sure it will look great. The scion was pretty sick when I actually got to take a good look in person. I still dig your fix a flat holder lol.

AlienVictim
06-01-2010, 07:18 PM
thanks justin, i'm hoping. i figure if i can pull all of the bs i have
with the scion, than i can do it with the corolla and even cheaper.

and i still have harness bars! yess!!!!! lol so i may have to steal a racing seat and harness from the tc for the corolla...i like pairs so this make me sad pants.

just going to be weird constantly repairing things again, which i
actually miss from having all of my old cars.

i had a headstart by basically walking a friend through a gts 4age engine replacement not to long ago before i got my corolla. woot!

once you have done a few engine swaps is all pretty much straight forward (excluding those crazy surprises that spring up on different setups.). but i'm not balling out of control like he is with the cash.....

so i guess being nice and helping people does pay off every now and than...lol

so ill probably have to get a destroyed 4age or some other equivalent dohc engine and rebuild it. like someones castoff they dont know how to fix.

i really want to get a mega squirt and start playing with that...i hear is even better than some off the shelf expensive ems systems.

we will see being payed what i make and trying to mod/build is like squeezing blood from a stone.

oh and "project car" is the best magazine to ever be made.....just fyi

and honestly no offense to corolla fanatics but there are a lot
better engines i would rather waste the cash if i had it on.

lol very true. not to say Volkswagen dont have their merits, but being that picky about a car that wont run correctly after 5 years without religious maintenance is silly....

i have owned 2 and the experience left me less than impressed.

i really do however love the classic Volkswagen scene. they do some crazy stuff. and creativity beats buying expensive shit for bragging rights any day of the week.

There was a vr6 swapped older golf running around a long time ago, sounds kinda fun

sourced a parts car, so i can do a 4age swap. pretty happy because the car was basically free.

that's means ill only have to source minimal parts. now to find a gts tranny, driveaxle, and diff.

okay okay here's a pic, was so effin tired after this ridiculous towing saga i only took this pic after pushing it on the side of the house.

it runs but no drivers seat. so we couldn't just drive the damn thing over there.....

lol here it is. the body is surprisingly dent free. but its still need so much work and parts...

anyone have a set of sr5 of seats sitting around that i can trade for something...like um vinyl work or art?:cornut:

http://www.nwtuner.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=92&pictureid=831

also parts car fell through. bummer....

so anyone got anything sr5 they want to chuck my way i would appreciate it. if i can afford to swap it yet at least i can fix it and make it driveable.

things sorely needed.
seats (no driver seat at all)
master cylinder (brakes are stiff but car doesn't stop, slows? maybe?) maybe problem with brake booster.
license plate light fixtures.
egr tube from header to intake?
someone who is familiar with webber carbs. (they seem to have been made by a crazy person.)
stock exhaust from spipe back..... this one only has it to the cat...than its missing.....lol
"i hate carburetors....."

if you cant kick em off to me name a price and pm me. thanks

I don't care what you say Pete, you need to post pics. At the very least it might make us all feel better about our own projects. :lawl:

If you ever need any help wrenching give me a call, I've never worked on an '86 and would love to help out.
