my good buddy has a sick 620 lol i wanted to do a gts 4age swap but that is just way to much time...im happy with a 22r, plus from what i hear carburetored motors are easy to turbo, cause you just have to run a air box, but it right now :confused5:

ha i think you need to get the engine runnin smoothly before you go turbo'n that beast. we went to an empty parking lot and he drifted it for like 2 minutes and it was over heatin. get that engine rebuild goin and then make er go fast (:

I had a 1980 hilux for my first car...still wish I never sold it. Awesome trucks!

I wouldn't waste my time swapping a turbo onto a 22r. I think it would be easier supercharging it. Plus with the SC you wouldn't have to worry about the lag of a turbo.

If you are going to put a turbo on it. What size are you thinking? What size jets are you going to use? Bigger fuel pump? Fuel Pressure regulator? Oil Cooler? Custom exhaust manifold?

As far as turbos. If you are doing it on the cheap. I would look on Supramania for someone getting rid of their 7mgte set up and get the stock turbo, manifold pipes and intercooler. Good luck with your build. If it was me I would swap a Sr20 or a Blacktop into it and save money down the road cause I wouldn't be happy with a 22r

i agree with matt on that one. it would be way better in the long run to do a swap and probably clost to the same price as far as reliability

I wouldnt waste my time with the 22r in a drift truck. Its just not built for power.
I would swap in a 7mge, or 7mgte. Possibly an sr or ka.

But if thats what your set on doing, a guy on yotatech.com recently did a custom supercharger on a 22re. Sounded sick, but i dont know how much power it made.

A 7m wouldn't work out very well. They don't tolerate oil starvation well. I lost a few rod bearings before I learned to run a quart high. They have a real shitty sump set up, If you were to run a 7m I would install a crank scrapper, replace the factory banjo lines with AN lines and add a baffle plate to the pan to keep oil down low. For a Inline six the cheapest route would be a 2jzge from a SC,GS,or IS 300. You could always go with a 1uzfe 4.0 V8 shit would be retarded...

if i can come across a decent 4age i think i would be happy, but i am so confused on how the transmission will line up with the drive shaft, and rear axle...i will probily neeeed some help, im looking to trade my toyota for a dodge d50, or a hardbody...stock? anyone got one?

if you want a drift truck, and you were thinking of a d50, go with a rampage. 2.2T stock and those k car engines are tried and tested

Here was my inspiration of my 20R motor. This picture isnt mine but I had an almost identical setup. The side draft carbs made a considerable difference.

^ I like this. Maybe a 22r block and a 20r head. ITB's with a lightened fly wheel ? just brainstorming.....

making power out of a 22r is a lot of money....wasted compared to what you can swap in.

A n/a 7M is 200hp and can go in there with some work...little easier than a 2JZ but the JZ is a better engine and more reliable. The 200hp mark would be plenty of power.

If you want to run automatic then find a 1UZ ...lightweight, good power, very reliable, revs up very well and responds well to upgrades not to mention it sounds awesome with opened up exhaust
