Has anybody here tried the product "Sea Foam" before?
I threw a couple tablespoons worth in my oil todday because im way late on changing my oil, and i know its "sludgy", but after hitting the highway from my house my engine got really quiet and is running like it has brand new oil in it. (i am changing my oil tomorrow morning)

I am a tech and I have used seafoam on all my rigs. Love the stuff. Its safe for gas tanks, oil, and works like a champ! Just read the directions on the back of the can and you will be fine!
The most effective way to use it is to take off a vacuum line going into your intake (lots of cars have a line right off the brake booster) and use a small funnel with the engine running to just slowly pour seafoam into it. The car might try to stall so keep the RPMs up. After you do that for a few seconds then just let up on the RPMs and pour the seafoam into the engine until the car stalls....let it sit for 5 min...reconnect vacuum line and start it up. It may take a bit to start but thats normal. Let it run for 5-10 min.
I usually use about a third of a bottle doing that....then use a third in my gas tank and a third in my oil. And as a note....do this outside.....if your engine has lots of miles and lots of carbon buildup this will create lots of smoke.......my honda smoked out my entire culdesac...couldn't see anything....lol.

I haven't, but I'm totally planning on using it in the spring on all my cars!

one thing i might say..........if u have like a super old old car with tons and tons of miles and its running alright...dont use seafoam.....some of the carbon buildup could be helping the engine running better....example....my brat.....i think the seafoam cleaned it too well and now it has a small exhaust valve leak....

Haha. Yeah I bought that stuff for the 85 firebird I had. The previous owner prolly never changed the oil so I was going to use it but I was advised not to for that reason

ya i mean....it might help...it might not....kinda shot in the dark when you are dealing with something that old....but i use it on my 93 honda...which has over 260k on it and it has only helped. so i would say that if the vehicle is running pretty good and is fuel injected...go for it! let us know how it goes!

If you have any questions on how to do it or anything just feel free to ask....oh and as a side note...though my brat runs a bit odd now after seafoaming it (misfiring on and off on one cylinder) .....i get better mileage....explain that one.....
im gonna seafoam the hell outta my subie...it needs it...especially with the new job coming

seafoam smokes a lot cause its an oil. you can run seafoam through a brand new engine it will still smoke like crazy. i did it right after my engine build a few years back just to prove a point.

My hope is that when I SeaFoam there is minimal smoke :)
Although a ton of smoke and then a nice efficiency increase would be a nice surprise :) (As long as removing the gunk doesn't cause any problems as stated above)
