yeah.....mine was definitely a good chunk of change lol.
here are a few phone pics from the blown hg and pulling of the ka24de/tranny. thanks to marc's help it went decently fast but the obd2 head/intake manifold is a total pos, wires, water and vac lines everywhere. decided to say screw the ka after that and when the end of my intake cam decided to fall off after carefully pulling it and setting it down, bad casting i guess woohoo.

Daamn Sweet ride, clean as fuck. I've always liked the mean eye headlights on them 240's. Also love the color, looks good man !!
Cory, your 240 is really only like a 120. Until you get a new engine! Hahahaha.
Seriously though. Get some scratch together and let's SR that thing or something. Or make the jump to the Subaru world! RWD in the snow = FAIL

KAD-T!
i've always wanted one.
SR's are too trendy.
plus KA's are a dime a dozen.
TatMatt
01-21-2009, 09:26 PM
Good point I would love the bigger displacement of the KA plus the longer stroke will give you more torque with is better for kicking it sideways
That is why I love the 7m the thing is a torque monster. If there is even a little bit of moisture on the road I have no traction

Changed my mind on the rear diff, picking up an r32 pumpkin with a 2 way clutch type instead of the s14 1.5 way. The axles on the r32 are a bit thicker and has 4.3:1 ratio vs 4.083:1. More tq down low works for me, top end highway runs are meh lol
Those wheels/tires make your car look lifted... or is it the pictures? Guess it doesn't matter, it will be hot.
blackice
09-05-2009, 08:03 PM
probably the fact that its missing the driveshaft/tranny/engine LOL

there have been a few changes with the car since i checked the thread last. after ty's detail job i threw the nitto tires on the rear of the car and got a full alignment. my buddy in mt vernon that did the alignment also has an sr20'd 240 and said all of the 240sx he has had come in have had toe issues. after it was aligned the car handles way better lol.
got my amps and sub back in the car along with the cd deck. most of the interior is in and the gauges are all wired up.
lately the car started missing so i have been going through as i have time and money to try to find the issue. coil packs and ignitor look ok using a multimeter. went ahead and replaced the fuel injector seals and water temp sensor with no change. cleaned the iacv also and tried to get timing adjusted. was having trouble getting the idle below 1k so i suspect a vac leak. going to be doing all the intake manifold gaskets next. gotta hate cars sometimes :incazzato:

So after a long time of being in storage I drove the car down to U.P. Garage for a "break fix" session. Discussed the parts I had thrown in already to fix the missing problem I had awhile back. They ended up finding out cylinders 3-4 were leaking antifreeze from the headgasket with a badass fiber optic camera. Got video of the combustion chamber while it is running and a little drip drip under load lol.
Had a bit of pre-detonation damage on the pistons when inspected with the head on but was much less than expected when they pulled it. Just some carbon buildup and antifreeze residue that made it look rough.
New arp head studs and cosworth headgasket are now replacing the blown hks gasket and stock studs. They also threw in a new exhaust manifold gasket since it had a small leak and an intake manifold gasket for good measure.
Also the car is going on the dyno for tuning before I get it back. Bought a Nistune ecu awhile back and have had it sitting and waiting for the right time to do it. Going for a pretty safe tune but depending on power gain falloffs it may run up to 19 psi when tuned. Also had them throw on a new cat to replace my skyline test pipe since that is one of their dyno requirements. Hoping for more than my 18mpg I was originally getting too haha.

So got the headgasket replaced. The shop asked me about doing the clutch (the pedal was riding really high) while the car was there so I ordered one of the OS Giken Super Single clutches with the aluminum cover and a new Nismo clutch pivot ball. Should be good for around 400wtq

So my car is finally on the road again. After my headgasket replacement it was thrown on the dyno for a tune. The ecu I had ended up having a faulty install of the Nistune board and my cas doesn't like sitting in the stock position.
Basically this caused it to advance timing up to around 30 degrees on the first speed dyno run and popped 3 piston's ring lands. The guys at UP Garage thought they had done something wrong with the tuning and ended up donating 3 pistons to my engine (awesome guys btw) and did a full teardown of my engine to figure out what the problem was.
Once the ecu problem was figured out they gave me a good deal on the labor to get everything back together. I decided to replace the Nistune and I was able to source a full Power FC kit including the Power Commander and and FC Datalogit from a cool guy I met from the Northwest Nissans forum.
Got everything buttoned back up with the new clutch and have been running 15psi for the past little while. The clutch master seals decided to stop holding pressure so I had that replaced and had the car thrown on the dyno for some more boost. Now it is sitting at around 18psi and very stable. For a stock turbo it is pretty quick.
I'm going to be picking up a full z32 caliper set in the near future along with some spl tension rods, outer tie rod ends and some z33 inner tie rods.
I highly recommend UP Garage especially after my car detonated because of the bad ecu. Their help and willingness to work with me to get it fixed and going again were great. Definitely going to be taking it back down there in the near future for some other work. :cornut:

Nice! Glad to hear it's still on the road. I love 240's and yours is fantastic.

Another update, SPL tension rods, SPL Outer tie rod ends, and Tein Z33 inner tie rods arrive tomorrow. Also put the car in winter mode. Blizzak tires are win. Quick snaps from the parking garage and the NW Toy Run.
