Nice Del Sol man, so what do you wanna swap in for the D? A killer B ?

gotrice93

Nice Del Sol man, so what do you wanna swap in for the D? A killer B ?

thanks. i wanna do a b18 swap but they get kinda expensive for everything. so either that or a b16. what my plan is to repaint it and rejam it becuz all the jams are still the stock blue color. and i figure to jam the engine bay i gotta pull the motor so if i have the extra money ill do a swap

Backwoodz Tuner
12-29-2008, 11:22 PM
Yeah shit starts to add up quick, I definetly know what you mean. But good luck on your build, hope to see all your plans come into play. Its a long process , but the benefits of watching your ride evolve into your dream is priceless.

gotrice93
12-29-2008, 11:26 PM
thanks. the nice part is that im am in school for body work and paint so i will beable to do all that myself and i have the knowledge to do the swap myself so ill save money on the labor part. but i just wanna make sure im happy with what i have before i start painting it. i dont wanna get it painted and then decide i want a body kit and then have to mix more paint and hope it matches

Backwoodz Tuner
12-29-2008, 11:38 PM
Well not to steer you from your decisions, but if I were you I'd pass on the body kit , the reason I say that is , they break so easily. I know a little fiberglass and bondo will fix it but your gonna have to keep doin it every few months, due to just daily wear and tear. That's just speakin from my own experiences. I was always gettin nasty rock chips, cracking the frt bumper from not gettin the right angle pullin up into a driveway or something. It sucks. Body kits are just high maintenance. If it were my choice I'd spend the money towards a swap, but that's just speakin from experience. Cause a body kit is like what 5 to thousand dollars for a decent one?? With that much you could easily score a B18B1 from a junkyard or craigslist. And I would put money on it, you'd be more happier with motor upgrade then a bodykit.

04-05-2009, 12:57 AM
hmm still no clue, so probably wasnt me. i live on campus so i dont go around town much except for meets or on drive when i get bored

Mitchness

Boysenberry's up in Hayden. Up there with Honeysuckle and Blueberry and all the other "berry" streets.

so i been looking around for an suv once i get out of school. looks like i found a 2002 nissan xterra i want. im either thinking about having no life for a month and saving up enough for a down payment come summer. or trading the del sol in or selling it. maybe its time to give my baby up

Backwoodz Tuner
04-27-2009, 08:53 AM
What?? I thought u had big plans for the del sol??

Mitchness
04-27-2009, 03:30 PM
I frown at you, sir.

Save up for both. Trust me having a second vehicle makes working on and modifying the first soooo much easier.

I agree with you man.

gotrice93
04-27-2009, 05:58 PM
i know, i just don't want my monthly payments to be outragous. and if i keep the del sol i gotta get a storage unti to store it in because that would make 3 vehicles at my parents house that i own, since i will be living there for a month or two until i move on my own. i don't want to get rid of her but to live the lifestyle i want i might need to.

traderj
04-29-2009, 12:09 AM
Don't know about you but I wouldn't trade my integra in for an SUV. Over the winter I bought a 92 4Runner. Was cool but wasn't anything like driving my integra. I missed it every time I drove the SUV and I'm so glad I didn't get rid of it when I needed funds. The 4Runner is now sold and I am happy with my decision.

What about the other 2 cars. Why not get rid of those?

gotrice93
04-29-2009, 12:13 AM
i only have one other vehicle the xterra would make 3 . the other is a 78' ford that has been my dad and mine project. i got a quote and they only want to give me like 1800 trade in for my del sol so now trading it in is up in the air

LimeEM2
04-29-2009, 12:05 PM
Dont do it bubba!!!!!

Mitchness
04-29-2009, 01:11 PM
At the very least get the Xterra with the turbo.

...and then give the turbo to me. :D

Ty
04-29-2009, 01:15 PM
I believe Xterras are supercharged.

Brian
04-29-2009, 01:23 PM
I believe Xterras are supercharged.

you would be correct

Mitchness
04-29-2009, 01:31 PM
Really?

...damn

Ty
04-29-2009, 01:31 PM
...You can still supercharge your car.

Backwoodz Tuner
04-29-2009, 04:17 PM
If there's a will there's a way ;)

Mitchness
04-29-2009, 04:57 PM
Yeah, I could, but S/C isn't really the best way to go about F/Iing a z6. *shrugs*

gotrice93
04-29-2009, 05:59 PM
i talked to my parents. if i can talk the guy down enough in price they said they would help me come up with the down becuz they know what kind of money i have into my car and dont want me to get screwed. so if i do that then ill pay them back the down payment. yeah i found one with a factory supercharger 5speed for 12000..lil more then i want to spend. and yeah i can still supercharge my del sol. Jackson racing makes a good kit for it. that was one of my first plans until i decided body first.

gotrice93
04-29-2009, 06:28 PM
this is the one im looking at. if i get outta class in time tomorrow im going to stop and talk to the people on my way home

I second both of these. But mostly keeping the Sol!!

gotrice93

if i buy it im gonna keep them for winter tires.

gotrice93
05-11-2009, 09:27 PM
the xterra is out of the picture. i picked the guy apart on what was wrong with it. ie. paint chips, scratches, surface rust... I'm looking at a Chevy truck now. I'm more of a truck guy. but sad thing is, the Del Sol might still be up for sale, this way i can pay off some bills so i don't have to live at home.

gotrice93

love the 1 piece headlights.

Mitchness
05-12-2009, 04:26 PM
The stock del Sol headlights is one of Honda's bigger engineering failures. When eBay aftermarket heads are better quality and performance than OEM that is truly sad.

BTW, I love my black one-piecers. :cornut:

gotrice93
05-12-2009, 05:33 PM
thanks Mitch. I really like them, i didn't think they looked as cheap as the chrome ones. They are technically "smoked"

gotrice93
05-12-2009, 05:34 PM
love the 1 piece headlights.

Thanks Brian, i think it flows alot better then the 2 piecer.

Bmer89
05-13-2009, 10:03 AM
I need to get some of these... I was torn between the chrome and the black housing. Now that I've seen the smoked installed.... it doesn't look half bad! Now you need the matching aux lights.

Looks good dude!

gotrice93

yeah the aux's need replaced. That's if i do keep the car. If i keep it i might just get the 97 bumper that doesn't have them and go for a clean look.

gotrice93
05-13-2009, 04:49 PM
I'm so up in the air whether or not to sell it. It doesn't book at much so it's almost kind of pointless to sell it, and the bill i would be paying off is my 4 wheeler and that only cost me $100 a month. Plus my mom wants me to keep it because she knows I will regret it. So after thinking about it, I'm 80% sure I am going to keep it. Just gotta work on getting her some new shoes now. Then she will be tucking 17's a little.

Mitchness
05-13-2009, 05:05 PM
Trust me, dude. About 80% of the people who sell their Sols regret it after the first year.

Keep it.

Bmer89
05-13-2009, 05:13 PM
First of all, keep it... regret sucks.
Second, Sols look better with aux lights IMO :D

gotrice93
05-13-2009, 05:19 PM
Yeah i like the Aux lights. It helps off set the front. I am thinking of ordering Angel eyes for the Aux lights in the next few weeks

gotrice93
06-18-2009, 09:00 PM
So looks like project Del Sol is gonna be on hold. I just don't have the time and money to do it likei thought i would. Especially now that im trying to save to move out of my parent's house. I think i am just gonna buy rims and drive her. maybe next year ill get some work done on her. i gotta finish my 78 ford first....its sad to see my car the way it is...on steelies:(

Bmer89
06-18-2009, 10:19 PM
HUBCAPS FTW!!! ....... not. Just remember to keep it clean. Too bad the Sol has to wait though. Good luck with the Ford in the mean time.

gotrice93
06-18-2009, 10:26 PM
the Del Sol to my standards won't be "riced out" on the outside. But that will be to my standards. which may be different then other peoples. but im hoping to still do some interior work. like replace stuff that is broke or worn. I need to get a temp. gauge this payday and i am thinkin of creating my own pod

silver_echo
06-18-2009, 10:35 PM
hey bubba, do you know how to mold a gauge pod into an a-pillar? thinking of putting in a voltmeter...

gotrice93
06-18-2009, 10:37 PM
never done a plastic mold job. that's what i am going to be experimenting with

gotrice93
06-18-2009, 10:51 PM
here is a pic of my ford. we are remodeling so it is used as a dump runner. it is in pretty good shape until u get to the bed. everything else is mainly surface rust.
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/94/l_cd315c7538914481a9bfb9c6d99b1cac.jpg
this is the summer part of the project. i gotta get it out and rebuild it
http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/73/l_7e3bcfaca7514bd288b0d9dc9f35c791.jpg

I might just try to get the motor rebuilt so i can drive it this winter if i dont get a new truck

Brian
06-19-2009, 12:19 PM
i thought you already had rims for the Del Sol?

gotrice93
06-19-2009, 01:32 PM
i thought you already had rims for the Del Sol?

I do one is bent pretty good and the tires are showing cords. so im gonna just buy new ones

gotrice93
06-24-2009, 08:23 PM
how stupid is this. i can't buy projectors for my honda so i have to retro fit them but i can buy them for my 1978 Ford truck

jon
06-24-2009, 10:59 PM
retros are always way cooler and you know that!

gotrice93
06-24-2009, 11:09 PM

jon
06-24-2009, 11:17 PM
pst you should always have time for me

gotrice93
07-27-2009, 11:16 PM
Almost lost the Honda last night. Had a suicidal deer jump in front of me so i locked up the brakes and missed it by a couple inches. I was relieved that i missed it. Now i regret not dropping a gear and hitting the bastard

Mitchness
07-30-2009, 04:50 PM
Now i regret not dropping a gear and hitting the bastard

Uh, why? In the del Sol you'd prolly be killed in that kind of accident.

gotrice93
07-30-2009, 07:25 PM
Uh, why? In the del Sol you'd prolly be killed in that kind of accident.

i would have got it with the passenger side not square so i would have been fine. plus i was doing like 15 mph. i want a new car but cant sell mine becuz i love it but if its in another accident i dont want to fix it so i would need a new car

Bmer89

You wouldn't kill a Sol on purpose... right? :frown5:

how stupid is this. i can't buy projectors for my honda so i have to retro fit them but i can buy them for my 1978 Ford truck

Crazy expensive, I know. It's that, or retrofit. I would retrofit dual projectors because they look siiick.

gotrice93
08-11-2009, 03:10 PM
looks like my friend and i might be picking up another del sol as a project. Im gonna jack all the parts im missing for mine haha and take the motor the guy is gonna throw in. anyone know much about the b20/b16 hybrid swap

Bmer89
08-11-2009, 11:37 PM
Do it.... I need an ashtray

And I've never heard of a hybrid swap... But good luck with the project, it's always nice to hear somebody saving a del Sol!

gotrice93
08-12-2009, 06:28 PM
u aint gettin the ashtray i need it haha

Bmer89
08-12-2009, 07:42 PM
Crap! :lawl:

EDIT: What color is it? If it's black, would you part with the front bumper?

gotrice93
08-12-2009, 07:44 PM
i have been researching the b20/b16 vtec swap. it looks like you get the B20 bottom end torque and the B16 high rpm horsepower.

gotrice93
08-23-2009, 05:19 PM
So I am torn, do i keep the del Sol or trade it off on something with a backseat. or if i keep do i wanna swap to a bigger motor or boost the d15. i know the d15 isn't a performance motor but i am happy with it

I have always wanted one of those 2 door imprezas. But I would always have that and my Sol :) *hint hint* Subies are the ultimate winter sports cars.

gotrice93
08-24-2009, 09:09 PM
i would love a subie as a winter car, but im an active snowmobiler so i need a truck or suv, cuz i would never put a tow package on a car

Bmer89
08-25-2009, 09:36 PM
Baja??? well... those are spendy.

gotrice93
08-25-2009, 09:39 PM
i think baja's are kinda ugly. haha i have 2 trucks one is sitting in my garage waiting for my ass to get the front sheet metal and then the other one is sitting beside the garage waiting for me to get done with my mazda and rewire it and rebuild the motor

Bmer89
08-25-2009, 09:43 PM
It's an interesting ugly though. Nothing like the eyesore chevy ssr... now THAT is ugly. I would advise you to get your truck(s) running and build your Sol over winter!

gotrice93
08-25-2009, 10:08 PM
Mazda is getting sold right after i finish it. Gonna sell it back to my boss for our other store. they use there big f-450 to go get parts and stuff and need a small truck

gotrice93
08-31-2009, 10:43 PM
So the "Got Rice" del Sol is looking like its going to be sold this winter or spring if not traded. Sad to see i go but im done with the tuner scene. :(..to many people running around being dumbass, having to pipe every single car they see, and not a quick pipe but bouncing it off the rev limiter. i hate it. i know some great respectful people in the tuner scene but i know some complete jackasses. i will not sell my car locally though. dont wanna see someone trash it

Brian
08-31-2009, 11:25 PM
sorry to hear that man. I know it gets ridiculous after awhile

gotrice93
09-01-2009, 01:48 PM
Its fine. I'm ready for a change. I think I would be more willing to keep it if it had more room

Bmer89
09-05-2009, 02:35 PM
Sad to see a del Sol go... The only reason why the tuning scene has more retards in it is because tuners are cheap.... retards are poor. Good luck with your future endeavors.

If I had the room, I'd take it off our hands ;) I need another Sol for my limo project :cornut: :ihih:

haha dave, im looking at a lifted diesel right now. i dont know what i will do with all that power

The question is really "what won't you do?". A little propane or nitrous and a fuel pump and then you are really talking something!

gotrice93
09-20-2009, 09:53 PM
so i finally decided on a suv haha. truck is out of the question until i find one i really like again. haha right now this is the one i have been looking at. i have another one i have to look at when i get a day off

looks pretty good. not a fan of chrome though. so you keeping the sol?

gotrice93
09-20-2009, 10:39 PM
o the worst part of the chrome is that they are spinners. haha ill keep the rims and sell the spinners. im gonna keep it luxury style. Im keeping the del sol till spring at the earliest is when i will sell it. who knows?

Bmer89
09-20-2009, 10:42 PM
Oh snap... spinners!! True blingage! lol...

When spring comes, and if in fact you do sell the Sol, would you consider selling the one piece headlights? You got the OEM's still right?

And Bubba, I can't believe you went from abandoning tuners and ricers, to embracing a vehicle with spinners. I am not sure that's a move in the right direction.

You can be my friend again, when those are off the vehicle. :confused5:

I got a broken interior passenger door handle. i would love to replace them with uk/jdm maplight door handles but they are way expensive. but looks like im gonna just buy a cheap header to replace my closed dc sports header. also thinking about getting a harness bar, but its still up in the air.

So i got bored today and remounted my temp gauge. I have an aftermarket because the rod on the needle of the stock one broke so i can't replace the needle, and haven't found any reasonably priced clusters for sale.
It use to be on the steering wheel panel in between the speedo and tach. So I took my heater vent out and reran the wires and used the vent as a bod kinda. I never use the vents, i always have it on defrost so i figured it would help clean the interior up.

gotrice93

This dc sport has been on the car since I've owned it and I have had no problems. The crushed part was my own fault. But I took the dc sport tag off the old on and tack welded it onto my new one haha. When I took the old header off the gasket looked great no blow by or anything so that's good news too

gotrice93
02-21-2010, 12:48 AM
Thanks! The tires are a 215/45/17 compared to my old ones being a 205/40/17 so they look about 1/2 taller each way and an inch total, I do like having more side wall since our roads in montana aren't in the greatest shape all the time so less chance of bending a rim

gotrice93
02-22-2010, 10:58 PM
compared to my old steelies, 175/70/13 these do sit higher lol. I like em, i only rub when im turned completely, maybe this summer ill tuck em just for you brad so it wont look so high

Bmer89
02-22-2010, 11:04 PM
Well in montana it's probably better to sit a little higher. My old tires rubbed quite a bit too; going over bumps, turning a corner even just a little too quickly, heavy braking... but big rims > huge tires.

But yeah... you should totally slam it to the ground, snap some pics and raise it up again! ;)

gotrice93
02-22-2010, 11:07 PM
I don't know if i will beable to get out of my drive way! i gotta go up like a 3 inch bump. If i get bored enough consider it done! Just means i gotta take the back tires of cuz i can't get to the coilovers with them on FTL!

Bmer89
02-22-2010, 11:11 PM
I have to do the same thing, and park on some gravel/dirt, on a little hill. No fun. You getting lower profile tires then?

gotrice93
02-22-2010, 11:14 PM
No, these tires are almost brand new, no need to replace them. It is only an inch difference from my old 205/40/17. 1/2 inch on top and 1/2 inch on bottom. I meant i can't get to the coilovers with the back rims on. the fronts i just gotta jack it up

I bought a 2" wooden ball, from JoAnne Fabrics. Looks exactly like a shift knob.

I figured stain it whatever color, then use some cool, rub-off letters and then some clear coat. It'd look better on a classic, so I never did it to the Mustang.

Ouch man, yeah that might throw it off balance. You think you can have it repaired or something?

gotrice93
05-05-2010, 12:13 AM
If I can't have it repair my thought is they only cost me $100 bucks. I'll take the tires off and put them on my old rims with bald tires and buy one rim to replace the one that is bent in that set lol. My old rim was bent when I got it then they fixed the road by my house and left the gravel 2" below the asphalt and I was late for work and was in a hurry and hit it.
