i started building a ls vtec about 2 weeks ago. i thought it would be cool to post a build thread so incase someone else was wanting to do the same you can learn from my experience's. the build will probley take some time im hoping to have it in my car by summer time but we will see, the slow builds are always the best though, so far heres the list of what i have
-Ls block B18B
-Ls crank
-Ls Rods
-B16 p30 pistons
-honda oem piston rings
-arp rod bolts
-arp head studs
-golden eagle full ls vtec conversion kit
i still need alot of parts......ill post some pics later today but hopefully this weekend im getting a b16 head and the crank balanced and polished

Hell yeah man sounds good. I would recommend gettin some upgraded rods, cause one of the reasons LS/VTeC's fail is due to the rods not being able to handle the stress of higher RPM's. But that's just my 2 cents for ya. Let's see some pics.

hes got a point, tensile pressure on a rod is expontial so if you have 500lbs of pressure at 6k, youll have 4000 at 9k and so on. high rps are really what cause a motor to fail, especially a bad mixture detonating at a high rpm on a boosted motor. thats why a great tuner and carefull driver could run a lot of boost on a stock motor and not worry. thats just my .02

Well just having the LS rods shotpeened will improve the tensile strength of the rod, and won't cost as much as new after market ones will. And another good tip would be upgrading to some Prelude 310 cc injectors. What kind of engine do u plan to run with this build?? Hondata always a wise choice.

im just using stock ls rods and im going to get them shot peened and most cases shot peened ls rods are stronger then some aftermarket, they will be able to handle the rpms fine, and plus im going na

Rite on man good luck.. I've built about 10 LS Vtec builds so if you run in to any problems feel free to ask some questions.. Im sure Backwoodz Tuner knows about this build also and could help to.

I used to build them and sell them before i started Elite. That's how ive done so many there used to be good money in building them.

I would recommend using the B16 head. It flows the best plus they are cheap

yeah im using a b16 head, i havent posted on here in a WHILE, and im actully still building this motor its been a slow process just saving up money and buying the parts when i could. as of right now im in the process of putting it together, pistons are in heads on, and motor should be fully assembled by the end of the week, as soon as i find time to do it. i hope to have it in my car and running in a couple months
