I guess this is kind of a "continuation" of my intro thread haha.
I am starting with a almost completely stock '86 x7 cressida.
And putting a 7mgte in it till I save up more for a 1jz and a big single (probably around graduation)
The supra was a killer deal, and a 7m is plenty of power for me compared to the 5m bulllllshit so, why not?
Will have pictures hopefully by the end of the week as work begins.

Its gonna be low, its gonna be loud, its gonna be stiff.

Haven't been as up to date with this as other sites, so heres an update or two.

LET IT COMMENCE!

Picked up the cressida on saturday. A 3 hour drive to shelton, a couple hours hanging out with Will's parents, and a 3 hour drive home again.
Renting the trailer cost more than the car itself three fold.

This is what I have to show for it...

Skipped 2-6 period and worked on her today. Got the interior almost completely gutted, washed her, needs another go though. Gonna buff it down with some meguiars medium cut, and hopefully after a good wax it will shine somewhat more. The paint is almost all there, a few pebble sized rust on the hood, but shes shiny in most parts still.

I am going to take it down to the metal, and then put the stock seats in, they are just too comfortable to get rid of. The engine bay is.... a shithole, to be honest haha. Rats nests, bird nest, beez nests. I think I am just going to shop vac it and get this engine out of there with the quickness. Then I can pressure wash the bay out and get it stripped for some battleship grey.

Inside the fenders should be stripped and rolled by the end of next week. Then I will cut the springs until I can get some megan coilovers or something. I will get new wheels in like june possibly.

Got the front end off and all the fluids drained this morning. Everything... I mean everything, is filled with rat shit. The valley on the 5m, rat shit, the airbox, a rat house. There is probably a rat stuck in a cylinder haha. Still have a few hours of work today. Got to take some pictures with a D300, they will be up later.

No they didn't all have leather seats, but mine does -luckily- and they are in great condition. I broke soooo many bolt heads off trying to take the front end off, they were all so soft =\

fuck AC, fuck PS, fuck all that shit lol. i jsut started hacking thorugh the ac lines with a pair of dikes because the nuts are too corroded to get off. The driveshaft is out, the trannys jacked up, motors un bolted. Wiring is all pulled back to the ecu. Probably won't have the engine out tomorrow, but definitely wenesday since I have like 4 hours to work on it then. Sooo stoked to get this fucking 5m outta there.

Ok I also just finished stripping down a jZA70 clip so I have a bunch of relays. What year is the supra and the cressida?
Are you aware of the differences between pre 89 ecu and post 89 ecus ? pre is a yellow plugs and post are grey should be able to cross cressy body and supra ecu

do yo uhave any pics of that exhaust form the supra?

cocobitzz
02-09-2009, 11:10 PM
Not from under the body, just from the back. It's a 87, so yellows and the cressida is 85. I have the wiring "tutorial" from some guy on TC.net that did it, but it doesn't make a licka sense to me. Honestly, I have no idea how to go about wiring.

cocobitzz
02-10-2009, 04:03 PM
got that fucker out!
and dropped the car down to see how the suspension sits. When I hung the fender to get an idea, there was like a 1-1 1/2 inch gap till the tire, so with the engine in it should sit niiiice and low.

Pics on monday,
got the interior down to metal, still need to do trunk. Got the dash out. Pulling all the AC shit from under it and all the wiring. Sold the GTX today, so I am ordering my 1jz on monday. Picked up a SAFC II tonight, got the bay paint stripped, now to shave all the AC holes and shit. New brake MC and lines coming. Getting a Bride Zeta, megan harness, and making a harness bar for the driver.

Deadline is GG, think I can make it?

TatMatt

Got the AC out from under the dash, will have the engine bay painted by the time the 1jz gets here (middle of this week) then I need to get a front sump pick up and pan, flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, mate driveshafts, make mounts, wire.

got an r154, so thats out of the way.

cocobitzz

Waiting on my clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, slave, and clutch fork.
Still don't have a bellhousing (and not enough money to buy one right now), i need a radiator too. Got a no name reclinable bucket from Ian for cheap cheap, and i am mounting that currently.

As soon as my oil pan gets here (hopefully today) i can get that on there, and start mocking up the mounts. After I get the engine mounted, I am going to start on my strut bar, run new brake hardlines (old ones got fuxed when pulling the 5m.)

I am going to pull my open diff, clean it up, and Dual Shield it too all hell. If Dustin is still down I am going to trade the welded for his factory LSD, and throw that in. Then plumb the IC. I got the front half of the bay primed yesterday. I have to wait until I get the bellhousing so I can "negotiate" the r154 into the tunnel (aka beat the fuck out of it with a big ass hammer) till I can paint the back half. Plus I have a few more AC holes to shave.

I'll get pics up this week of where she sits now. If I can find a new job this week, I should have this running in.............. July? June MAYBE.

I haven't been on this forum in a grip.

Anyways shit has changed. Did work on the x7 now it's gone, and I got a pretty clean x8 to replace it. Swapped the 1j into it. That's where I am now.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y126/Cody_B/13325_1461512864687_1439403034_3122.jpg

thats it as of a few months ago. ran through the wiring and it's all ace now. new hydraulics all around, got rid of abs so there is only like 2 brake lines now instead of 99999, new clutch, royal purple and eneos.

unfortunately i never did my water pump so now i am pulling the front end off the engine to do oil pump, water pump, new DM pullies, and timing job.
